Last year we could only come with 16 due to Covid (see last year's review). This year I organized a Meetup group of 32! We did the same Batso River trip. Allsion was great again giving me a web link so that everyone could pay themselves and made sure everyone signed their waivers and was flexible with replacements of a couple of people who dropped out last minute. Two kayakers had difficulty with the current and the multiple bends and the debris in the river but eventually figured it out. We stopped at the beach for lunch and even though the weather was not as good as last year we had an unforgettable experience. One of us had a drone and took some great pictures, some of which I will add. See more..
  2. 5.0 Kayak East (84 reviews)
    - Excellent bang for your buck!

I signed up the day before the Kayaking trip which was very easy to do on the Kayak East website. The site asks for your height/weight so the guide can bring the right kayak for you. You can also bring your own kayak if you have one! I paid about $62 for a solo kayak which included a lifejacket and paddle. John brought all the gear and had it prepped and ready for us to go by the time I arrived. We paddled out in a group of about 15 people, some single folks (like me) and some groups. It was a calm day with nice weather but John and Susan helped ensure we were sticking together as a group for safety when crossing the shipping channel. It was quite leisurely but not so slow so I'd recommend it to folks with mixed experience kayaking. I'd definitely kayak again with Kayak East! See more..

Simply put, will definitely return. This was my second trip with Mick’s, we rented one boat and had them provide portage for our 3 kayaks. Friendly staff, fast service and a great paddle. Got us loaded back up at pickup and sorted our personal gear back to us with no problem. Took 5 years to get back down for a paddle but I don’t plan for it to be that long until the third trip. Thanks again for another great day on the Wading!! See more..

    - I had a similar experience with this company that others have had. I had initially booked my climb and no one showed up.

I had a similar experience with this company that others have had. I had initially booked my climb and no one showed up. It was then very diffcult to get through to them. However, when I finally did get through they offered me the ability to reschedual and a free trip for two. I just want climbing with them and it was really great. They even through in repelling at the end. The guide was fun and knowlegable and the climb was challanging. I would go again, just make sure to call and confirm and stay on top of them. See more..
  5. 5.0 Flatwater Paddle Co. (36 reviews)
    - Gorgeous views, awesome staff, and a great time

Had an amazing time renting a kayak from Flatwater. Staff was friendly and a lot of fun. We were able to easily reserve time online, and while parking wasn't intuitive, it was readily available. The biggest highlight here was the reservoir, which is absolutely gorgeous. In our two hour rental, we were able to go quite a way on the reservoir, which is a lot more sprawling than it seems at first glance! Saw plenty of birds, a few turtles, and a lot of dogs - people love taking dogs on paddleboards I guess! Highly recommended. See more..

Noelle is super cool and a fantastic teacher/business owner. Paddleboarding has been a bucket list activity for years and I’m so glad I chose resilience to learn with. Sign up for group intro to paddleboarding and then the SUP ABC Series to work on your paddling moves. Affordable and easy to schedule, Resilience will be out on the water well through October. Can't wait to try paddle board yoga and a sunset kayaking trip! A plus for easy location: right on the water on 13th street in Hoboken (there’s a parking garage nearby). See more..
  7. 5.0 Surf's Up Paddle Boarding (7 reviews)
    - I love paddle boarding in Round Valley Reservoir and this rental group makes it so easy
Stand Up Paddleboarding • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Surf's Up Paddle Boarding image
I love paddle boarding in Round Valley---the water is over 100 feet deep and crystal clear. No fast boats or wave runners are allowed, so you don't get knocked over by boat wake. Surf's Up is open all summer and I call to reserve boards, show up, borrow a life jacket and they have the board in the water waiting for me. They give you a quick lesson and you are on your way. The prices are reasonable. Go a mile past the entrance to Round Valley (pass it on your right) and then the boat launch area is on the right. As soon as you pull into that area, make the first left and you will see the truck with all the paddle boards. They also rent kayaks. I recommend this to anyone--I've gone 6 times this summer and brought people of varying fitness levels and they all were on their feet in minutes. I would highly recommend this activity. See more..
  8. 5.0 Hackensack Riverkeeper Inc (2 reviews)
    - Birders' paradise

It is ironic that I saw many more birds 15 minutes from my home than when I was in South Africa on safari. Who would have thought there was so much wildlife...in Secaucus, NJ. Capt. Bill is an endless source of information about the waterways in North Jersey and his passion for the conservation of these vital areas is contagious. We were on the tour for close to three hours and everyone, even my teen daughters, loved the trip on a perfect summer day. Even saw a bald eagle. A true must see in the area. See more..

This is a hidden gem. Our original plans did not work out and we came upon this place by accident. What a great day! 20.00 per person for the day to rent a kayak. There is plenty to see and you will not be disappointed. See more..
  10. 3.5 Flow Paddle Yoga (2 reviews)
    - Disappointing experience

My husband and I took off to enjoy a day together in Red Bank and wanted to start it off with some paddle boarding. Registration was smooth and confirmed date and time. Once we arrived, we called the owner/manager as we did not see anyone there. She stated that there must have been a computer glitch in the system and saw our reservation for the following day (very lax and unapologetic). Owner then said that she could arrive in 30-45 min which we waited for about 50 min. Again, was not sincere in the apology of creating such an inconvenience. After our trip, we were met by another team member to gather our boards and although he wasn't rude in any way, he seemed very matter-of-fact and business-like (not trying to socialize or ask how the trip went whatsoever). You would think that a small business such as this would want to go above and beyond to create a memorable trip with great customer service, but seemed like just an afterthought of a side job they owned. Wish I could have recommended them to others. See more..

  12. 4.0 Crosswicks Creek Park (1 review)
    - Hiking, fishing, kayaking and biking area around Crosswicks Creek.
Parks • Hiking Trails • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Crosswicks Creek Park image
We spent the entire delightful day exploring the Croswicks Creek Park. At first it seemed a little confusing with various access points and its elongated shape which follows the creek. Many trails were informal but paradoxically very well delineated in the form of mowed field paths. The historic Walnford is in the middle o the Crosswick Creek Park. The creek is good for kayaking and canoeing but it is a bit unregulated and there are many trees and minor obstacles in the water. See more..
