3 Star Places To Visit in Vermont, United States (44)
3.5Wilson Castle(116 reviews) - Warren Buffet, Bill Gates or Oprah should save this structure Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Castles
See this place before it crumbles. It could be so much more if only they had the money to restore it. Tour was so-so, but the artifacts are beautiful.See more..
We got their late so we weren’t able to do much shopping. They have some restaurants, grocery, movie theater and outlets. We were staying at the Essex Hotel across the highway. It’s within walking distance. See more..
I called and asked for a private lesson. When I arrived I was told that they don't differ lessons on weekends and that there were not enough guides for a private ride. I had driven 30 minutes so I stayed. The guide was nice, the trials were pleasant and the horse was gentle. But I wish I had known upfront what I was getting. See more..

Well, I would have to say that the park is very clean, the sites are very large and mostly private, the staff is very friendly and helpful. There are great hiking trails at the campground, including a swimming hole which is awesome, albeit a hike back up! My reason for giving is 4 stars is the interstate traffic noise -- wherever you go in this park, it is there night and day.See more..
See some reviews about the condition of this place, but it certainly must have been renovated. Everything was in very good condition. Had a good mix of straight forward and difficult holes. They do use natural rocks for some bank shots and rarely did those work as designed. Was not crowded at all and $6/person. Kids and adults had a lot of fun. Located right across from the Visitor's Center, behind the pizza place.See more..

3.0Grand View Winery(12 reviews) - Price has gone up but good wines & cider Spent < 1 hour Wineries & Vineyards
Located next door to Cold Hollow Cider Mill the wines are actually blended by Boyden Valley Winery in Cambridge, Vermont. They charge $10 for 7 tastings and give you a wine glass. In CA this summer they charged $10 but refunded it if you purchased a bottle. I wound up buying 4 but was still charged the fee, a bit cheap if you ask me. The wines included a Glogg similar to German Gluehwein. A blueberry too dry for my tastes but I did like the Cassis, Vermont Ice Red and the Vermont Ice Maple Crème, like a Bailey's made with maple syrup. The person working there seemed very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I believe he either works at the winery or is an owner so that made a difference from a diffident shop employee. We had a great time talking and sipping.See more..
3.5Beer Naked Brewery(11 reviews) - Great view and beer Thursday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Breweries

3.5Shackleton Thomas(10 reviews) - Very nice if you like this sort of thing Thursday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
My wife and I stopped in here while staying in Woodstock recently. We like Arts & Crafts style and have a number of Stickley pieces so this looked like a good place to stop in. The showroom is small but they have a good sample of their work there. Their furniture is high quality and lovely. Their pottery is also very nice. We especially liked their made-to-order, custom commemorative plates and bowls. They would make very nice gifts. You can walk upstairs and see their furniture makers in action too. The furniture is pricey, but what do you expect for hand made, American craft of this quality. Very nice things.See more..
3.5Tater Hill Golf Course(10 reviews) - A good course near Manchester, VT Spent More than 3 hours Golf Courses
This 18 hole course has an old part and a newer part. Seven of the first nine holes are from the old course, very nicely renovated however. Two of the front nine holes are from an expansion made quite a few years back. The back nine has seven holes from the expansion and two from the original course. The character is very different between the front and the back, with the front more flat and open, while the back nine is hilly and relatively narrow in the woods. The front plays relatively easy, except for the two holes from the expansion, while the back plays rather difficult with many elevated greens. It’s a fun course to play. Look for discounts for afternoon play and on the internet.See more..
3.0Williston Golf Club(10 reviews) - Afternoon golf Golf Courses You'll find Williston Golf Club in the heart of the Historic Village of Williston. There, golfers play one of the very best maintained courses in all of New England and enjoy a brisk four hour round. Refreshingly, Williston does not conform to the modern model of golf course design. It is an old style parkland layout that was built the old fashion way, using the natural features of the land.See more..
3.0Kampersville Beach(7 reviews) - Place has issues Thursday: 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM Beach & Pool Clubs
1.) Check in was uneventful. 2.) Well paved roads. 3.) We had a 50 amp site. Connections were at the back (far back) of the site not anywhere near the connections to most RVs. We had to literally back into trees for our utilities to reach connections. 4.) Large crowds at many of the campsites that did not adhere to quite time. One group were left to have a loud drunken party to 2 a.m. 5.) The general location is nice along with lake access. Very pretty area and convenient to quant towns and sites of Vermont. 6.) Campfire wood, $7 for a very small bundle of "found in the woods" sort of wood. Wasn't aged hardwood. 7.) Very nice camp store, but don't look for too many supplies for your RV if you need repairs. 8.) Not a place for retirees looking for a quiet getaway... too many party goers. See more..

3.5Stratton Golf School(6 reviews) - Good way to straighten out your game Lessons & Workshops Four of us went up to take 3 days of the Golf School. That may have been a little over zealous. By the 3rd day I was sore and tired. We had an awesome instructor who helped all four of us with all our different problem areas. He really made our experience a very positive one. However, the facilities weren't very good. A very damaged green and large rocks in the sand trap.See more..

3.5Elmwood Cemetary(4 reviews) - Very Nice Well Kept Cemetery Points of Interest & Landmarks We were looking for this cemetery for my 5th Great Grandfather's Grave. We walked a lot of the cemetery and drove around it. It is very well kept. In the back the graves are in semi circle to the middle. I have not seen that before and some of the family plots, the headstones were placed on the side of gravesite verse the head or foot. Very nice cemetery!See more..
We stopped at the Visitor Center and picked up a trail map, then moved to a different parking area. I just had a few hours to spend, so we chose a loop that included parts of the Beaver Pond Trail, Brook Trail and River Trail. There are a lot of excellent trails to choose from. We had some nice stops along the brook and the river that gave my kids a chance to explore along the banks. I didn’t see many birds, but we also weren’t there for long. The trails are well marked, but some could be maintained a little better.See more..

3.0The Vermont Flannel Company(1 review) - No Sheets! Limited inventory. Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops A bit disappointing because we were expecting a bigger place where we could purchase some sets of sheets. Store is the size of a very small convenience store with very limited parking directly in front of the store. The saleslady on duty was wonderful and the shirts and other items are of the highest quality. We did not visit any of their other locations so we cannot comment on their size or parking.See more..
3.0Essex Country Club(1 review) - Good spot for golfing without a crowd Spent 2-3 hours Golf Courses There are many courses to choose from when you are in the Burlington area for golf. Essex Country Club is one we return to often. It has a good variety of holes - from short to long, to some with hazards, to some picturesque. A great course to walk, because it's not very hilly. The back nine offers some elevation change to add to the variety. I would consider Essex among the top 10-15 in Chittenden County.See more..

3.0Cooler Gallery(1 review) - A walk through at night Art Galleries After dinner at Thyme, which is the same repurposed building, our waiter gary suggested that we walk through, enjoying the different artworks, some more than others. I especially liked the plaster full-size figures hanging above. I also liked the art in the restaurant, 1960's of White river Junction; early1950's in France by the same photographer. There is one of farmers eating by the roadside that includes the photographer's wife.See more..
