We so totally enjoyed this experience! Laura was very helpful and friendly as well. Upon arriving she offered us mini tastings of each type of syrup. We then went into the museum and learned SO much! Note: While the (extensive) gift shop was heated the museum was not - dress accordingly in the cooler months. Just don’t miss it! The $3 museum admission is definitely worth the experience! The museum contains extensive historical murals and artifacts - we also enjoyed the push buttons to hear the actual voices and reminiscences of old timers. Also be sure to watch the brief 8 min video. It added much to our understanding of the syrup making process. Since we all love maple syrup this was a super fun stop! Do look at the Wall of Shame also to see which brands try to trick us. TIP Before you leave be sure to get directions to one of the local covered bridges - a must see!!See more..

We were on our way out of Middlebury and decided to stop here for a look. What a great local museum. They have an extensive collection of household furnishings and hands on displays for kids to learn about life in the 1800's in rural Vermont. There was a nice gift shop with Vermont history books and crafts from local artisans. The back half of the house is used as a gallery with rotating exhibits of more contemporary pieces from local artists. We were very glad that we stopped to take a look. It is right in the center of town.See more..
Stopped by to check out the intriguing burnt wood sculptures out front. The museum was closed, but I was intrigued by two things. Behind the museum was a gold cadillac encrusted with lobsters dinosaurs, bulls and real pair of swim fins attached to the Cadillac fins. I had seen this car before on Cape Cod! The museum website is interesting itself, promoting White River Junction as "Rio Blanco - It's not so bad!" The MAin Street Museum is indicative of the up and coming arts community in WRJ.See more..

Been to the Ludlow area many of times. If you not capable of hiking or strenuous activities there is not a lot to do close by. Found this gem on Trip Advisor. As soon as you walk in there is a nice volunteer willing to answer all your questions and show you around. We were lucky enough to meet the tin smith. He has even made ornaments fort he White House Christmas Tree. Amazing work. And if you are lucky enough to have the old house next door, The Farrar-Mansur House, take the tour. Amazing old items dating back to the Civil War. Nothing roped off. All accessible. What a story to the whole house. Both are free, but donations are welcome.See more..
I'm a teacher and was so excited to learn about this tiny little place as I read the book about him to my class each year. If you don't know the story, be sure to Google him; he basically offered proof of the metaphor about people being like snowflakes in that no two are exactly alike. The display was a real pleasure and the quirky and surprisingly large gift shop was too. If you have time, check out the lovely little nature area/steam behind the parking lot. All and all, a great place to visit.See more..

5.0Estey Organ Museum(5 reviews) - Wonderful couple of hours.... Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
As the owner of a vintage Estey Organ, it was a must to get to Brattleboro and visit the museum. The managing director, Philip Stimmel, a very dedicated and enthusiastic musician, took great pains to tell us the history of the company and demonstrated many of the vintage pieces they have from many periods. I was privileged to be able to play a couple also, A superb afternoon and well worth travelling many thousands of miles to get there....( well, we did go to other places too!!)See more..

4.5DAR John Strong Mansion Museum(2 reviews) - Well Worth a Visit Speciality Museums We discovered this historic gem on a recent trip to the Champlain Valley. As history enthusiasts, we felt fortunate to be there on the right day. The museum is only open on weekends and holidays during the summer. It is well worth a visit. For an hour or so, visitors are taken back to life during Colonial times. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. She tailored the presentation to our interests and the time we had available. The exhibit rooms demonstrate how five generations of this prominent family lived. Their interesting story was woven into information about the history of the area as it evolved over the years. The admission fee was quite reasonable and there is a discount for senior citizens.See more..

It is a two-story, well-organized collection of artifacts, archives and displays that give an extraordinary view of Highgate, the surrounding area, and the history of small-town life in a town over 200 years old, and its origins that are even older. The Curator, Charlie Nye is a wealth of knowledge and a great guide to this wonderful museum. And they run off of donations!See more..
