    This place is amazing! We spent over two hours, walking around and admiring the memorials - amazing works of art, all made of the famous Barre granite. We were so lucky to meet a local gentleman who was engraving a date on a stone. He told us all about the art of granite carving and engraving as well as several stories behind the memorials. This is truly a not-to-miss place. See more..

    The church rising above the cemetery is picture perfect, but in its shadow is this cemetery. I could have spent the entire day here reading the headstones. This is a place filled with history. The cemetery is apparently treasured by the town because it is in perfect, manicured condition. From the front white picket fence the oldest headstones can be seen. It is a beautiful place to take pictures. There are signs along the path pointing the way to Robert Frost's grave in the back of the graveyard. This is a peaceful way to see some history in a quiet setting. It is well worth the stop. See more..

    I had heard so much about Green Mount Cemetery, especially Black Agnes, a supposedly 'haunted' sculptured tombstone that will doom anyone who sits in her lap at midnight (right). There are several beautiful stones and statuary here. Some favorites are the Resurrection and the Life and the famous stairway to nowhere. It's a very hilly cemetery to walk through, and it's not easy to drive through either due to several narrow lanes with little ditches on either side. See more..
