    - Awesome trails right in the middle of town!

We were staying in near by Smugglers notch, but it was raining there. Luckily I found Cady Hill online and drove over. It was much dryer in Stowe and the trails were in pretty good shape despite recent rains. These trails are right in the middle of town and there were a good variety with some jump lines to mellow XC trails. The signage was very good and really helped as it was my first time there. I only had my rigid, single-speed bike, and it was okay here. the main trail head is easy to find right on the highway, or just roll over on the Stowe bike path. Definitely worth renting a bike and riding here! This is definitely a heavy area for bike use, so if you're hiking/running, just be aware. See more..

    - Nice hike, cool destination

    Devil's Gulch Hiking Trail image
We did this hike one beautiful fall day in early November. It's a moderate hike but there is 1 area that's a little challenging with steep steps so watch your footing on the way in and prepare for a good climb on the way out, but it's worth it. The destination is very cool and you can walk right up to, through, and past the Gulch and there are plenty of flat areas to rest, sit down, and enjoy snacks. The trail is well marked once you're on it but we were a tad confused when we started out as you park on 1 side of the road and then the trail takes you across to the other side. There's also a Long Trail shelter off the main trail which was really nice and easy to get to and back on the trail. The out and back took us 3-4 hours but we dawdled a bit, enjoyed the walk, and we were on vacation and in no rush. This was a hike definitely worth taking! See more..

This is a fantastic but challenging hike! The climb is unrelenting but doable for most abilities. Check the conditions before you go, not great when wet. The views were the best! Not to mention the waterfall is a great reprieve right when the climb gets tough . Not heavily trafficked if you go early. See more..

On our way to Underhill State Park below Mount Mansfield we stumbled across a series of small waterfalls along the dirt road. We were looking for seclusion, not wanting to be next to anyone during COVID-19. We brought out or camp chairs, our grill and our fold up table and sat relaxing, listening to the water flow by. My husband brought his book, I brought my laptop and we spent a couple hours outside the house in nature. There is a tiny pull off on the left as you ascend the mountain. See more..
