    Very interesting museum
This is one of the must interesting museums I have ever been to. They have everything from art galleries to a steamship and lighthouse. The entry price is steep for a non-Vermont resident but well worth it. There is a lot of walking and parts of the museum are not handicapped accessible. As in most places, the gift shop is expensive but they have some nice things. A must see if you are in the area..

A fantastic museum of both Americana and modern art
The Shelburne Museum, located near Burlington, VT has exhibition buildings scattered over 45 acres. Some of the buildings have been relocated from other parts of the State as well as from other parts of New England & New York. These buildings include houses, barns, a lighthouse, general store and a covered bridge. Also, the steamship Ticonderoga is ensconced on the property. The buildings represent the 18th and 19th centuries, while the ship sailed into the 20th century. The museum, founded in 1947, was funded by the Webb family who were ardent collectors of American folk art. The collection includes a carousel, doll and duck decoy collection, in addition to other implements and artifacts of the period. A building that has recreated the interior of the Webb family 5th avenue triplex apartment in a home built on the property in their honor and in memoriam. It hosts a fantastic art exhibit that includes Monet, Grandma Moses and other painters in addition to sculptures by Frederick Remington and others. One cannot possibly view the totality of this museum’s offerings in one day. The Shelburne represents the best of what a regional (in fact, any museum) has to offer. I recommend it heartily to you. It is a must see if you are traveling though New England, especially the area around Lake Champlain.
