Absolutely stunning waterfall among the fall colors. Easy directions. The 2.5 mile graded dirt road was a bit rough the first mile but was much nicer the closer I got. The pay kiosk is just onto the start of the unpaved road and you need to pay for the pass there as there is no kiosk at the trailhead. ( cards only at kiosk) Parking is limited at the trailhead, and if you have to park on the road it’s a bit of a hike up. Easy walk to the lower viewpoint. The .25 mile hike to the upper viewpoint is steeply uphill, but the path is wide and smooth and easy to stop and catch your breath. See more..
  3. 4.5 Latourell Falls (298 reviews)
    - Awesome upper and lower falls with great hike
    Waterfalls
    Latourell Falls image
We stopped on the Columbia river gorge drive and walked the short 1/4 mile to the beautiful lower falls overlook that is easy to reach. There is an architecturally stunning bridge nearby with a trail around the area leading to an upper falls and a picnic area nearby. We decided to take the upper falls hike - 2 Miles loop and we’re not disappointed. The crowds were far less along the trail and at the upper falls. It was a fairly easy hike with a pretty good uphill climb and beautiful views the entire way. Parking was tight but we were early and found a space. There are outhouse facilities which smelled terribly even from a distance so we skipped using them. See more..

    Sahalie and Koosah Falls image
Went last week. We were easily able to see the first waterfall but there was snow on the trail (late April) and too difficult to walk in althetic shoes to the second waterfall (most who continued had boots and walking sticks). Still worth stopping to see. See more..

We couldn't hike at Multnomah Falls so we went to the Wahkeena Falls trail. You can hike to Fairy Falls which worked well for us. It's a beautiful hike. It's a pretty steep trail - all up and then all down. See more..

    Willamette Falls image
Second largest falls in the US. Lots of vantage points to get a good look. Especially impressive at flood stage. The closed paper mill, blue heron on the Oregon city side is proper as a park- if it happens it will be a great place to get really close to this impressive feature. See more..
  7. 4.5 Toketee Falls (156 reviews)
    - Beautiful Waterfall and Even Better Down at the Bottom
    Waterfalls
    Toketee Falls image
Stayed in Roseburg the night before and left around 7:45 am to try and make it to the falls around 9:00 am. The official part of the hike was relatively easy and you end up at a platform looking out to the falls. If you decide you want to go down to the base of the falls on the unofficial trail, there's a hole in the chain link fence where you have to squeeze through. If you want more details, I made an entire blog post about it on "The Luxury Lowdown" dot com. Getting down to the falls was definitely harder than the marked trail so be careful that you don't slip. There were probably already four groups down there taking pictures, but still enough room where you won't have anyone in your pictures. See more..

  9. 5.0 Salt Creek Falls (113 reviews)
    - Hidden Gem
    Waterfalls
    Salt Creek Falls image
I like to think I’m a waterfall guy but I have to admit that I had never heard of these falls before our recent visit. Multnomah and Silver Falls yes but not these. Too bad because Salt Creek Falls rates right up there with the big boys. And it is so easy to visit too. We visited in April but the paths were still covered in snow so exercise extreme me caution. We almost missed seeing the falls because we took the oath to the left of the restrooms and this was too dangerous to get up close. Another couple told us to take the hidden path (in wintertime) to the right of the kiosk and these took us to a great viewing platform. Definitely add Salt Creek Falls to your list of Falls to visit in Oregon. See more..
  10. 3.5 Vidae Falls (83 reviews)
    - Short stop on the Crater Lake Rim Drive
    Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
    Vidae Falls image
This is on the Crater Lake Rim Drive. There is a small parking area; the falls are right next to the road. The area around the falls was closed when we visited (October 2022) for regeneration work. The falls were very limited when we stopped by. See more..

    Sweet Creek Falls image
I could speak for hours about how nice, beautiful, stunning, beyond expectation this trial is and I would still be below reality. I'll share a few of my pictures so you will see by yourself. Too bad that we can't share videos on trip-advisor. It's not very long, not very difficult, 2.2 miles walk from the Homestead Trailhead. It's real quiet. A great way to reconnect with nature. In September, with the trees starting to wear more colours, it's even better. A MUST SEE See more..
  12. 4.5 Mill Creek Falls (74 reviews)
    - Waterfalls and Boulders!
    Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
    Mill Creek Falls image
Beautiful area. We especially liked the Avenue of Boulders. The parking areas are not well marked and it's easy to miss them as you drive by. The southern parking are offers access to Mill Creek Falls and Barr Creek Falls to the left, and to the Avenue of Boulders to the right. It's perhaps a mile of walking to visit each. The waterfalls are quite easy to get to on foot, but not by wheelchair. The paths are wide, not too steep, and well marked. I actually liked Barr Falls better than Mill Creek because it's multi-tiered. As I said, we especially liked the Boulders. Huge rock in the river channel that you can walk right up to, but you need full mobility. The path is narrow and broken just to get toward the river, not to mention actually scrambling on the boulders to get the best perspectives. The northern parking area offers an easier walk along another creek that runs down a spectacular green moss covered cataract. You can continue to an overlook of the Boulders. See more..

Well worth the trip and well worth walking a least to the bridge lookout if you can. We went higher for views down which were pretty spectacular. Stunningly pretty place with toilets, restaurant and gift shop at the bottom. Free to see and a must on my opinion if you’re in the area. See more..
  15. 4.5 Plaikni Falls (58 reviews)
    - Easy Hike through the Forest
    Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
    Plaikni Falls image
This is an easy 2 mile round trip with 137 feet elevation gain hike. The hardest part may be trying to find a parking spot. The parking area is small. We came around 11 am on Tuesday, July 20. It is a popular hike. There were plenty of people on the trail. You walk through the forest and it does provide some shade. Nice waterfalls at the end. You can even dip your feet in. We spent in total close to an hour on the hike and rested at the waterfalls for around 15 minutes. See more..
  16. 4.5 Tamanawas Falls Trail (53 reviews)
    - A beautiful unique waterfall on a moderate difficult hike
    Spent 1-2 hours Waterfalls
    Tamanawas Falls Trail image
This is a moderate hike. It follows the river for almost the entire hike and most is in the shade. The hike is 2 miles in and 2 miles out. The trail is well maintained and on my hike I came across people of all ages, and many with young children and/or dogs. The hike is almost entirely uphill to the falls and there is an area near the falls which involves traveling through a rock slide. Lots of opportunities to twist an ankle so need to pay attention. The falls are very nice and rather unique with a very large mist that at times obscures the view of the falls. Bring water. A nice place to have a picnic lunch. Parking is limited. We were here on a Friday mid May and the lot filled up pretty early. Not sure what people do if the lot is full as no overflow parking seen but there is a campground not too far away. I was not in the shape I thought I was and took me 1.5 hours to the falls and 1 hour back. Definitely worth it! See more..

Off HWY 138. Signage is good. The road is very narrow. The parking area is moderate. Pit toilets. Some information boards. Not much of a trail. More an easy walk. 400 feet of boardwalk & an accessible viewing platform. This is a gorgeous waterfall with good water flow in August. Out of the four waterfalls we visited that morning this was a favorite! See more..
  19. 5.0 Ramona Falls Trail (34 reviews)
    - Gorgeous, easy hike
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails • Forests • Waterfalls
    Ramona Falls Trail image
An easy trail with lovely scenery along the path to the falls-a lot of mossy rocks and flowers. There aren’t any difficult elevation gains, mostly gentle inclines. Ramona Falls are a beautiful cascade over a rocky backdrop. There is a small river crossing with a few fallen trees forming “bridges,” but I don’t know if the water would be as shallow earlier in the season. Levels usually drop in July. It took me a little over 5 hours for the 7.5 mile loop with plenty of photo stops and a lunch break at the falls. See more..
  20. 4.5 Little Zigzag Falls (29 reviews)
    - Great hike for little ones!
Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
    Little Zigzag Falls image
Fantastic hike for families with young ones. We took this hike around 3pm after a long day of other hikes. I was apprehensive about taking on another hike with 3 tired kids, but I was advised it was easy. My wife and I had our 10 year old, 6 year old and 3 year old with us. The whole path was shaded, had plenty of rocks and things for the kids to climb on, the stream/river runs along the path the entire way, which also kept them entertained. It wasn't terribly busy in the afternoon, and the whole experience was great. Even then tired little 3 year old had a great time. All 3 kids rated it their favorite hike so far. See more..
  21. 4.5 Whitehorse Falls (28 reviews)

    Whitehorse Falls image
A short, narrow road leads to a very small parking lot. Don't try to take an RV down there! There's a gravel parking lot by the highway. Park & walk in. .1 mile stroll to a beautiful water fall that had a very good flow even in August! Good for families or those with mobility issues. One of our favorites! See more..
  22. 4.5 Dry Creek Falls Hike (24 reviews)

    Dry Creek Falls Hike image
Easy in that it is only a few miles to the falls with pretty good trails most of the way and hard because of the climb! So most anyone can do this, its just how fast do you want to get there....:) Well worth the drive and hike!!! Beautiful falls, pack a lunch and enjoy...:) We did in general find the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in general hard to navigate with terrible maps and signage...:( See more..
  23. 4.5 Sherars Falls (24 reviews)
    - Another wonderful place to Visit.
    Waterfalls
    Sherars Falls image
Not able to say Sherars Falls is the only thing you enjoy taking this road to the Deshutes River. The entire area is worth spending time. Maupin has very charming places to stay and the Maupin Market has a deli that never lets you down if you are hungry. There is also a back road that takes you to Grass Valley which is located on 97. Not to be missed in my opinion. See more..
  24. 4.5 Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area (18 reviews)
    - Hidden little gem!!

Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area image
We stayed in Coos Bay and this was about a 45 min drive, get there early to avoid any kind of traffic. We were there around 10 ish and were the only people there until we were on our way out. We did Silver falls first in about 20 min and it leaves you at the base of the waterfall so expect kids. Golden falls gives you two options, we did the longer one and it was scenically beautiful!! Takes you all the way to the top to look over all the trees and the top of the waterfall. If your looking for a nice/easy hike and avoid crowds THIS IS IT! See more..
  25. 4.5 Lower Punchbowl Falls (18 reviews)
    - Make sure you take both paths
    Waterfalls
    Lower Punchbowl Falls image
There are two trails for Punchbowl Falls and if you have the time I recommend veering off the path down to the bottom of the falls (Lower Punchbowl Falls) first, then hiking back up and continuing on to the overview of the falls. There are some parts of the path that are very narrow, but there are wall rails for those portions. We went on a slightly damp day, but didn’t have any issues completing the entire trail. It is roughly 5 miles round trip. See more..
  26. 4.5 National Creek Falls (16 reviews)
    - Beautiful falls with mist

    National Creek Falls image
Fantastic waterfall. The road is a little rough, but very passable with good signage. From the parking lot it is a 10 minute hike that takes you past the top of the falls to the bottom. Great stack of rocks that you can shield yourself from the mist to see the falls and peak out to get a selfie before getting soaked. See more..
  27. 5.0 Ponytail Falls (16 reviews)
    - Hidden Gem — Don't miss this trail!
    Waterfalls
    Ponytail Falls image
This falls is truly a hidden gem ... we were there on a Tuesday afternoon, and while we know it was a weekday, we still can't believe no one else was there! Get yourself to Horsetail Falls (super easy to find and park at via Google) and to the left of the falls is a trail marked "falls trail." This trail is just under a mile long and I would call it moderately steep going up (which was a little shocking since All Trails marked it "easy."). Our 11 and 13 YO dudes made the climb easily, but with littles you might need to help or carry them. That said, IT IS WORTH IT. It has stunning views of the Columbia River/Gorge and once you get to Ponytail Falls you'll think you were on a movie set. It's truly one of the most magical things ever. The dudes loved walking behind and climbing down to the waterfall. It made for a really, really special moment. See more..

  30. 5.0 Punchbowl Falls (11 reviews)
    - Worth the 2 mile hike
Spent More than 3 hours Waterfalls
    Punchbowl Falls image
Not sure if this is open after the 2017 fire but if it is it is worth the 2 mile hike back to it. The trail can be scary at times with a huge drop off on one side and a rock cliff on the other of a 2 foot wide rock trail on the side of the cliff at times. The hike back to it and the falls is beautiful. The hike is a moderate hike and not for the faint of heart or physically challenged. Bring some aqua shoes so you can go out in the water to see the falls and get some pics. This was one of my bucket list things to do after seeing a pic of Punchbowl falls on Facebook. So glad I got to see this. We saw this in the fall of 2015. See more..

We were able to take this hike in early July when the Washington Lilies were starting to bloom. Their fragrance was heavy in the air. They should last until the end of the month. We hiked here in May and numerous trees were down across the trail then. Only the first half of the trail has been cleared this time. 8 cars were parked at the trailhead, but it was no problem keeping our physical distance on the 1.5 mile trail. See more..

    - Best Waterfall Yet!
    Waterfalls
    Grotto Falls image
I was a little intimidated by the long gravel road to get there but it's totally doable and totally worth it! I've driven it in a Subaru and minivan and had no problems, road is well maintained. I parked about a mile from the trailhead because there was a downed tree - I could probably drive under it but didn't want to risk getting stuck (forgot my chain saw). I didn't hit snow/ice, but I did going up to Emile Shelter campground and had to turn around. The hike is short, about 0.33 miles one way, ground is secure/minimal rocks and roots, uphill most of the way there. It is really fun to go behind the falls! If you're adventurous, you can journey off trail above the falls, there's at least one more tier. Highly recommend. See more..

    - LOG PILE CLIMBING TO THE FALLS
    Waterfalls
    Lower Oneonta Falls image
This is one of the gorge's gems. the hike starts of the old Columbia river highway, then climb over a very large log jam, and then walk thru waist deep water to get to the falls. The climb over the log jam can be very difficult as everything is very slippery. Unfortunately the Eagle Creek fire has caused allot of damage and if we have a bad winter the log jam could grow to an impassable; also the old road may not be open until next summer. Attached are pictures in June before the fire. See more..

Located between Mapleton and Junction City, OR on Hwy 36. Watch for the small sign! Small parking lot with trailhead across the highway. Path to stairs down is about a quarter mile, then stairs down to the water. Not wheelchair accessible. Stairs down are more of a challenge climbing back up. Cascading waterfalls flow over a natural rock slide (rough rock) and there are multiple swimming holes with beautiful blue water. Some cliffs for jumping. You can reach Wiesendanger Falls from the Larch Mountain Trail #441. It's about .3 miles up from the junction at Multnomah Falls Overlook spur. Beautiful country abounds in this are, and it's well worth the trip to these falls. They are also easier to get closer too than some of the other falls, you don't have to worry about drop offs or cliff here. I really enjoyed the solitude here as it was away from the crowds. Wildwood Falls located about a half hour drive from I-5 outside of Cottage Grove is best appreciated during the rain season when the river is high. The falls are located in a county park. The park is rather run down with broken picnic tables, no access to water and no porta potty. The parking area is muddy and no gravel. Do not let the lack of amenities keep you away. The falls are well worth your drive and beside to take a camera. The falls can be reached and see from both sides of the Row River.
