This is arguably the best view in Oregon's Columbia Gorge. It's now called Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint but in the old days was known as Chanticleer Point. A plus is that looking to the east, you have a good view of Crown Point with the Columbia Gorge in the background.See more..
5.0Natural Bridge Viewpoint(52 reviews) - Do not miss this natural wonder Spent < 1 hour Lookouts
Stunning views!! You don't want to miss visiting this beautiful waterscape!! Easy trail, short walk from parking. Make sure and walk the entire length of trail (easy for any ages); so you can see the entire process of how the water enters and leaves the underwater bridge. You will not be disappointed!See more..
5.0Hat Point Overlook(10 reviews) - Exciting drive to gorgeous vistas of Hells Canyon and the Snake River Lookouts
The view at Hat Point Overlook is truly breathtaking. We climbed the 103 steps of the tower at the overlook. We drove the 24 miles one way Hat Point Road (Forest Road 4240) in our 22' Roadtrek RV with no problems on the way to the overlook. The road is narrow, steep and gravel but worth every mile. Be warned that the drive back down has a 16% grade the last 6 miles. Cool your brakes at each sign that warns you to do so. Downshift at top of hill before heading down to avoid brake problems and possible tow. This was truly an adventure and we loved it. A highlight from our 2 month road trip out west.See more..
One of our favorites! Stop here in the morning. By afternoon it's a madhouse. Parking is not sufficient. It doesn't help that this is a trailhead for a popular trail to Watchman Peak. There's pit toilet bathrooms. Great view!See more..
4.5Joseph Canyon Viewpoint(9 reviews) - Nice, there are much better ones Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Lookouts
This was just off the highway from Pullman to Enterprise Oregon. It did have a nice explanatory plaque, but the view itself was only okaySee more..
4.5Anthony Lakes Campground(7 reviews) - One of Oregon's Best Spent More than 3 hours Lookouts • Scenic Walking Areas
Anthony Lake is high elevation so it caught me by surprise that late August I was chilled the entire time I was there. Long sleeves or light jackets highly recommended. I camped in an RV and decided no outdoor fires for me considering the high risk of forest fires. Interesting that on some of the higher elevation hikes one can get cell service. The hiking at Anthony Lake is some of the best. Lots of small lakes in addition to Anthony Lake. Plenty of campsites. Water, porta potties but no electricity which is nice as then you don't have to listen to RV generators. The hike around the lake is perfect for beginner hikers or children. I did the Lake View Observatory hike and it is strenuous. In one mile from about 7,100 elevation you reach the top at 1638 feet. The trail is straight up with loose dirt and gravel. This hike is not for wimps! The camp hosts kept the campground clean and I found the campground to be very quiet. Lots of well behaved dogs.See more..
Definitely recommended. Obviously there are awesome views of the lake from many locations around the lake. The views from Sinnott Memorial Overlook are not any different...so why go here? The exhibits! They are THE hidden gem of the park. You need to go down some steps from the Rim Village (right behind the visitor's center) to get to the overlook. It is actually inside a sort of bunker (protected from the elements) but with open views of the lake. Everything you might want to know about Crater Lake, it's features, and it's history are right here in a semicircle set of exhibits as you look out over the lake. Bring your binoculars too as the exhibits reference different parts of the lake. We enjoyed this very much.See more..
4.0Pumice Castle(6 reviews) - Interesting rock formation Lookouts
Pumice Castle overlook on the east rim gives good views of the lake and of the strange orange rock formation made by erosion. It's colorful and interesting to see. You can also see it from other overlooks, just not as close up. From Cleetwood Cove Trail you can also see it from a different angle.See more..
4.5Deadman Pass Viewpoint(4 reviews) - Love Deadman's Pass. All of it! Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts
I have enjoyed driving up the mountains throughout my life and the view point was usually the first stop, just to look and enjoy. Good memories at this view overlooking the base of the Blues, Pendleton, and all the farm land. I love it. No bathrooms though. Just FYI. See more..
5.0Merriam Point(4 reviews) - Our First View of Crater Lake did NOT Disappoint Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts • Scenic Drives
We drove 2 hours from Bend so we entered Crater Lake via the North Entrance. As such, Merriam Point was the first spot we pulled into to start our Rim Drive. We visited Crater Lake on 2 days, July 20 and 23. For our 1st views of Crater Lake, Merriam Point did not disappoint. We started early the first day and got to the Park at around 6:30 am. It was so nice and quiet.See more..
