  1. 4.5 Multnomah County Central Library (306 reviews)
    - Stairway to (library) Heaven

    Multnomah County Central Library image
Magnificant place, worth a visit even if you do not want to use the library. The staircase from the first to the second floor alone is worth a stop (Central Library on the streetcar). If you actually want to go to a library, you can't do much better than this one. It has loads of periodicals, computer stations on all three floors, an excellent children's reading room, and a choice staff, all of whom seem to me to be happy employees, and they are more than willing and totally competent to help you out. Not as iconic as the famous New York City library on 42nd Street, but a landmark building in its own right. See more..
  2. 4.5 Salem Public Library (116 reviews)
    - Love the library-hate the parking
    Libraries
    Salem Public Library image
This is a great library for our community. Staff is friendly and helpful and there are lots of activities for all ages. However, the parking situation is awful. Very expensive, especially if you want to spend a few hours there. It seems that we should not have to pay for something I already pay taxes for. The parking does keep us from going as often as we would like. See more..
  3. 4.5 Ashland Library (98 reviews)
    - This is Not Rome
    Libraries
    Ashland Library image
And thank the Gods. This is Ashland, a very cool town with some nice attractions and the library does not disappoint. Although their collection seems small, they are tied to the other libraries in the county which house thousands upon thousands of books. So, you kind find it in their collection but it might not be immediately available. Just put your name on a list ! There is a decent magazine collection, CDs of all kinds of music, and, I think, DVDs although I never checked any out (you might want to confirm they have them first). Very nice customer service. Always felt at home here. See more..

Ive been to the library several times having to have some copies made from my emails. I'm not very tech savvy, but the personnel walked me thru things multiple times never making me feel I was a burden or an idiot! I now can do it myself, but I would still be floundering if not for the very helpful and courteous ladies in the library. Thank you all See more..

  19. 5.0 Phoenix Library (2 reviews)
    - The Burton Barr Central Library of Phoenix is impressive!
    Libraries
    Phoenix Library image
Although there are a number of branch libraries in the system, the Burton Barr Central Library is the largest and most well-equipped facility. The building stems from the 1990s, but looks totally modern and functional today with state-of-the art technology and architectural features married to the traditional book and media collections that are housed there. The glasswork, waterfall, spacious hallways and centres are complemented by an archival collection and "makerspace" area. People in Phoenix seem to love the Burton Barr Central Library and it is a place where a wide diversity of patrons, from school children to seniors (and even the homeless) have found a home. Highly recommended. See more..
