This district is the pearl of Portland, home to quirky boutiques and brands, cool restaurants, micro-breweries, and artisan coffee shops, housed in reclaimed warehouse spaces. Don't miss Powell’s City of Books, one of the largest independent bookstores in the world, and neat art galleries like Blue Sky and Augen Gallery. There's even a monthly art walk. The Jamison Square fountain is also a great spot to cool off in summer. Make a stop at Pearl District on a city tour of Portland, which often makes a stop here. If you love beer, you can explore the breweries on a bike tour. – Tripadvisor See more..

The Old Mill District along the Deschutes River is home to Bend's premiere shopping, dining and entertainment experiences. Take in concert at the Les Schwab Amphitheater, go for a run along the Deschutes River Trail, or simply stroll from shop to shop with friends and family. The Old Mill District also boasts more than 12 riverfront restaurants that feature everything from exotic happy hours and fine dining to kid-friendly family-style meals. More than just a shopping and dining district, the Old Mill also includes a 16-screen IMAX movie theater, three art galleries, a bike rental station and a kayak/surf/stand-up paddle board shop that'll have you on the river in no time. Alberta Street image
There are so many places to eat good food, drink good beer and shop on Alberta street. The art galleries are all unique and host some amazing work! During the summer time they host “ last Thursday” every month where on the last Thursday of the month they shut down multiple streets down Alberta to traffic and it’s turned into a walking fair where people sell their crafts and goods! Don’t worry all of the business are still open during the festivities. Usually there are street performers and musicians to watch as well while you shop. See more..

I visit this area each time I travel to central Oregon. There are many attractions in the area, including Wizard Falls fish hatchery along the Metolius River where you can fly fish, there is an amazing rodeo in the summer (you can rent a cabin or park model mobil home), several lakes in the nearby area, beautiful views of the Three Sisters Mountains, craft shows (quilt show, etc). Well worth a stop in this small friendly town. I would suggest making lodging reservations ahead of time as there are only a few hotel/motels in the area and they fill up quickly during the summer months. See more..
