    Pendleton Woolen Mill Store image
I am a Northwest guy and Pendleton products have been in my life for over 7 decades. I am a 100% disabled vet so purchasing a $400 blanket was a bit of a push. We bought items from the bargain section which were good looking items but just off a bit not perfect. We spent 2 hours looking and walked out with several stunning items now brought into our home for a great price. These products will outlast you and are worthy of passing down. See more..

    - Rich with history and great for the whole family
    Historic Sites
    Timberline Lodge image
We were lucky to catch one of the ranger-led tours and it was fascinating to hear about how the lodge was constructed during the Depression. It's also amazing to be able to sit on and interact with the original furniture and art--like traveling back through time! Prior to the tour, we took our kids on the skylift, which was worth the price because we brought snacks and spent some time enjoying the top before riding back down. This was a great stop in Mt. Hood! See more..

    Champoeg State Heritage Park image
My daughter got married there and it was amazing! It was a beautiful day and the facilities were incredibly nice (rustic). These are just a few of the great photos we got that day. The price was very reasonable and the park rangers helped us a lot. We booked the area for Friday, Saturday and Sunday so we had plenty of time. And we paid the parking fee for everyone (ranger collected it at the end of the evening). We also used a party trolley so people didn't have to drive if they didn't want to. Good time had by all! 12. 4.5 Fossils at Wheeler High School (68 reviews)
    - Fossil Hunting Made Easy
    Historic Sites
Fossils at Wheeler High School image
When entering the small town of Fossil, the County Seat of Wheeler County, it took a while driving in circles to find the free dig site behind the Wheeler High School. A welcome relief was the port-a-potty in the parking lot of the School. The donation box is to the right of the trail up do the digging grounds. The trail is very thin as it head up to the hill. The digging site is fenced off and has signs of where not to dig. As this was my first trek for fossil hunting, I hammered away not knowing I was probably obliterating fossils. After a few hours I was hot, discouraged and ready to leave when a woman asked me what I had found. When I responded, “nothing” she produced her many finds. I parked where she led me and found myriad fossils but the rock was very fragile. I had been trying too hard – they were there for the picking. I stayed until nightfall and had a delightful first fossil hunting trip. So put your rock hammer away and enjoy the fossil finds at Fossil, Oregon. See more..

Friends of the Sumpter Valley Dredge image
Sumpter a ghost town with mining history, historic buildings on the Main street and nowadays a population of about 200 and the Sumpter Valley Dredge State Heritage Area are situated 30 miles West of Baker City at the base of the Elkhorn Range in the Blue Mountains. Driving into the valley, you see the scenic mountain peaks of the Elkhorns on one side. On the other side, among trees and bushes your eyes will become bigger and bigger. There are piles of gravel, huge mounds of mine dumps, so-called tailings—refuse from the gold rush days. Most of the Sumpter Valley Dredge State Heritage Area consists of these tailings. The park´s centerpiece is a five-story vessel known as The Dredge, one of the tools used to dig up the valley floor along the Powder River. It stopped operating in 1954. Another witty thing you will find in the remnants of this little Western style lively hicktown isa signpost “Cannabis Dispensary”! Who would have expected this “innovation” in such a remote wasteland where most of the residents are elders? See more..
