5.0Crater Lake(559 reviews) - Bucket List X2 Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water
We stayed (in a tent) at Crater Lake 45 years ago (in 1977) and finally got to return. It was a bucket list place to visit both times. On the first trip, we took the boat over to Wizard Island and climbed to the top. On this trip, we had a much shorter visit but got some great views of this truly stunning place.See more..
4.5Trillium Lake(453 reviews) - Catch the reflection of Mt. Hood Bodies of Water
Against the majestic Mount Hood and surrounded by a sea of pine trees is the quiet Trillium Lake. Less than two hours' drive from Portland, this lake is the perfect outdoor getaway. Here, you can camp overnight at the campground, go kayaking and fishing, and hike along the multiple trails available in the area—all while enjoying stunning views of Mount Hood. Snap a picture at the boat launch for an iconic shot of the mountain being reflected into the calm waters of the lake. It's often a stop along a day tour to Mount Hood, along with Columbia River Gorge and Multnomah Falls. – TripadvisorSee more..

4.5Sparks Lake(262 reviews) - Great Paddling Bodies of Water
Center lake shallow, gets deeper as you paddle south. We have secret camp tucked away. Been canoeing since 70’s, spent 5 anniversaries there. Few fish at south end. Kids filled canoe with salamanders. Crowded now a day—get there early. Has ramp but so many people can not use ramp—I now have row boat on trailer. Camping around lake may not be allowed—stay at Elk or HosmerSee more..
5.0Deschutes River(259 reviews) - Lower Deschutes River guided fishing trip Bodies of Water
Took a guided fishing trip with Fly and Field Outfitters. It was an awesome trip with good friends, great fishing, and exceptional customer service by the guide team. A special shout out to guide Justin Francis! He was patient and very knowledgeable making it a great experience!See more..
The Bonnevile Dam (including the Sturgeon Viewing Pond and Interpretive Center) is on I-84 between Hood River and Portland. It has really cool exhibits on salmon, sturgeon, and hydroelectric power. It's in a beautiful location, with picnic areas. Best of all, parking, the exhibits, everything is free. My husband and I stopped by chance on our way to see the falls, and it was great! There were a number of tour busses there (it was a weekend), but plenty of room for everyone. See more..
4.0The Dalles(156 reviews) - December trip in trendy The Dalles Bodies of Water
What a pretty town! The downtown has been revitalized with good results, made for a wonderful place to wander around in both daytime and evening. Good restaurant choices (we avoided the fast food areas of town) in downtown, and plenty of wine tasting to indulge in. We found the bike path, we started at the Riverfront Park and rode to the Discovery Center & Museum, visited there, and rode back. The path included noisy parts next to the I-84, but most of it was alongside the river with great views of the hills in Washington. Closer to the Discovery Center, it is more natural and wild, with curvy path, benches, etc. Very enjoyable. See more..
4.5Todd Lake(130 reviews) - Very nice, very popular Bodies of Water
A great easy hike with a beautiful lake (go around it for maximum effect, not just to the near shore). However, it's popularity has led to quotas and a reservation system, making it not a destination for spur of the moment. If you do go, avoid the temptation to head out of the lake basin - there are considerable difficulties and no reasonable path back to a trail. Been there, done that.See more..
5.0Hosmer Lake(119 reviews) - Loved, loved, loved this lake!!! Bodies of Water
Loved, loved, loved this lake. Stayed four days in the Mallard Marsh Campground. We brought our SUPs and paddled every day. The lake sits in the shadow of Mt. Bachelor, South Sister and Broken Top. Very shallow (average depth is 3 feet) with gin clear water, you see large brook trout swimming below you. This is a fly fishing only lake, barbless hooks, catch and release. Loved paddling through the canals with the reeds on both sides and countless birds singing around you. Summer time weekends this lake can get a bit crowded, but during the week there is room for everyone. We will definitely keep this one on our list of favorite paddling lakes.See more..

Water green by mid August but no after effects as others mentioned, felt very clean and refreshed! Rock formations above just beautiful. Lake big/wide enough so can tube easily! 4.0Emigrant Lake(55 reviews) - Great RV site Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water
Jackson County Oregon is to be commended for this excellent county park. We camped in the RV section which had paved parking sites, full hookups, picnic table & firepit. Two aspects were exceptional: 1. Free, modern, clean, showers and washrooms 2. View of the lake & surrounding countryside. We enjoyed a colourful, beautiful sunset - pinks, blues and purples. Many people boated on the lake and some swam, kayaked & played. Well done Jackson County Parks!See more..
5.0Wallowa Lake(53 reviews) - Should be one of the wonders of the world Bodies of Water
This part of Oregon is spectacular. Wallowa Lake has swimming, boating, fishing, jet skiing, all kinds of activities and go carts for kids, horseback trail rides, hiking, a gondola with a restaurant on top and hiking trails andmany shops with clothing and souvenirs. There are campgrounds to choose from as well as motels and a large variety of rental cabins and houses available. The restaurants at the lake are worth exploring as they serve good food. Be sure to make a reservation for Vali's for dinner or you won't be seated. Well worth it and is very reasonably priced. The desserts are crazy good so save room. If you want to explore more territory drive into Joseph. Bonze statues are on every street corner and the hanging flower baskets look amazing. The stores are a good mix for browsing and shopping. The Joseph restaurants are extra special, especially for breakfast.See more..
4.5John Day River(42 reviews) - Lonely campsite Bodies of Water
We spent one night in Priest Hole Recreation site at John Day River. Wonderful place just on a river bank where we were alone. Swiming in river was excellent and silent night just with sound from river was great. Road to this place is narrow an rough but it worth to go there. We stayed there after visiting Painted Hills and it was good decision.See more..
4.5Netarts Bay(36 reviews) - Recharge here Bodies of Water
There are a few options to stay - a hotel/motel or home rental. We rented a home for a few days to sleep 6, and it was a memorable trip. The beach feels secluded, and the views are gorgeous. It is perfect for a morning run right along the ocean or an evening stroll. The tide changes constantly and beach opportunities are endless. We stayed during the month of July, and were able to be in shorts during the day, but needed a sweater to endure the cooler 50 degree nights/early mornings. It was so nice seeing the sunset. Do not miss stargazing in the evening or watching the sunset. Pick up some fresh oysters at the small deli/grocery. Enjoy this quiet town.See more..
4.5Port of Hood River(32 reviews) - Beach Town on the Columbia Bodies of Water
Kite boarders, wind surfers, stand-up paddlers, and boats...welcome to Hood River. The river park at the Port of Hood River is a beautiful green space that runs along the river. There are concession stands. boat launches, picnic areas and beaches (with restrooms). There is a fee for parking. You will need to dodge the strings of the kite boarders since this is the Kite Boarding Capital of the World (or at least the US). The water is choppy due the winds that whip through the Gorge here but it doesn't seem to stop the fun. Stand-up paddle boards are available for rent and you can take lessons to kite board. Even if you don't do any of the water sports it is still fun to watch the colorful kites. If you are walking toward the river, turn around and you will get a beautiful view of Mt. Hood. Restaurants and shops are just a short drive up the hill in the town of Hood River.See more..

4.5Siltcoos Lake(25 reviews) - Great Yurt rental on the Oregon Coast! Bodies of Water
This yurt is very large (its not one of those little ones like the parks have) and has a bathroom and kitchen, as well as an outside propane bbq. It has a pellet stove so we were nice and toasty warm. Right down on the river. My boyfriend caught a salmon right off the dock, not 10 feet from our front door! Only 5 miles south of the town of Florence so we went in to do a little sightseeing and have lunch down in the old town section, cute touristy little town! From talking to Gary,( the owner) we found out that he has just owned the resort for a couple of years and is a really friendly guy and very helpful about the local area and helped us with where to go and what to do. The weather was sunny, around 55 during the days and no wind, even on the beach!See more..

4.0Colliding Rivers Park(15 reviews) - get out of your car and into the water Spent < 1 hour Bodies of Water • Parks
driving to crater lake, we came upon this on a hot day and decided to see if there was a spot to take a dip. The dip turned into an afternoon of swimming, cliff jumping and relaxing on the warm rocks. the little river is very warm in summer while the umpqua is freezing, they mix to make for some nice swimming. There were some local kids milling around but nobody causing trouble. My kids liked it so much that they wanted to find a campsite nearby so we could stay another day. We will be back, maybe not specifically for this site but will probably always visit when in the area.See more..

4.0Dexter Lake(13 reviews) - Beautiful scenery, clean park Bodies of Water
Enjoyed the trail around the lake, numerous photo ops, always a bonus in my book! Great lake for canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and boats. Went on a weekday afternoon, not busy at all. Grounds were well kept and clean.See more..
This park is for the outdoor enthusiast. Great for swimming in the river, fishing, picnicking and group get togethers large or small. One of the overlooked features of the park is the trail system. This is a fantastic area for Bird watchers. There can be a dark side to this park so caution is in order for a couple items. The Rogue River should always be treated with respect and caution. The water can be cold and the currents can vary. Use caution around the river at all times. Second, and not well known while the park is pet friendly and they do require that you keep your pet on a leash they do allow trapping around the park. Pets in the past have been injured and killed in these traps. Keep your pets on a leash. This Park is also close to the Upper and Lower Table Rocks. Great day hikes. No overnight camping is allowed and there is a fee to enter the park.See more..
4.5Wood River Wetland(10 reviews) - Peaceful, beautiful, relaxing, and great birding! Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water
We had some extra time to kill before our next destination on our west coast roadtrip. We had stayed in Klamath Falls the night before and decided to stop here on our way out. I am so glad we did! I love birding and there were so many bird species to see! It was peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing!See more..
4.5Trojan Park(8 reviews) - World Class Disc Golf course! Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water • Parks • Hiking Trails
Trojan Park is a public facility maintained by Portland Gas & Electric, near the site of their former Trojan nuclear power plant. It is a 75-acre day-use park that features hiking, fishing, biking, and even a world class Disc Golf course. It is open only from May to September. It has picnic facilities for both individual and group use, with electric stoves (this is a power company park, remember?), sinks, water, and electrical outlets. Free and open to the public, there is a small day-use fee for groups. The park is 3 miles east of Rainier and 42 miles west of Portland, on US 30. It is home to a flock of Piebald geese, a patchwork cross between domestic white geese and Canada geese. Weird-looking.See more..
3.0Lemolo Lake(8 reviews) - Just drove around the lake Bodies of Water
We were just touring the area around Crater lake and found Lemolo Lake. It is smaller than Diamond Lake and therefore less crowded. The lake itself was pristine and we found a nice place to park, sit under the trees and have lunch. It was very quiet and the view was gorgeous.See more..

3.5Ford’s Pond(4 reviews) - Ford’s Pond Trail Bodies of Water
We wanted to go for a trail walk, so our uncle suggested Ford’s Pond. We didn’t know there was a trail there, but he said yes and it was nice. He was right! We took the loop around the lake, and saw birds, ducks, and flowers. The trail was pretty easy to follow. When we were done and walking back to our car (they’re is plenty of parking), a land worker showed up and gave us lots of information. He gave us tips, said he’s fished and kayaked there before, and he was friendly. Next time we are visiting, we plan on taking another walk there.See more..
4.0Mayer State Park(4 reviews) - Small, dog-friendly park with a few trails, nice views of gorge State Parks • Bodies of Water
We were hoping for something a bit more woodsy, but Mayer had a nice little trail around a small lake that led through a grove of trees to an attractive little sandy beach. The beach has wonderful, panoramic views of Columbia River Gorge, well worth the walk. Along the way we spotted a number of birds, including a Northern Flicker and Cedar Waxwings, and had a nice chat with friendly local fishermen.See more..
4.5Marion Lake(3 reviews) - Worth the elevated hike Bodies of Water
Getting to the base of the waterfall is doable, but challenging. I wouldn't recommend it with small children or if you are not comfortable jumping a few feet off the ground/climbing large rocks. We had it all to ourselves! There were big bugs, so beware! Only scary part was the trail head because there was an abandoned couch cushion, box of needles, and lock box with blood on it 100 ft before the trail head on the side of the road.See more..
4.5Cheadle Lake - North Shore Trail(2 reviews) - Fun from Dawn to Dusk Sunday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Bodies of Water • Parks • Hiking Trails
Driving to get to the North Trail was challenging but finally took Russel Drive not Russel Street. The gravel parking lot had a restroom that was the cleanest I've ever found at a Park. The boat entrance was easy to navigate and very wide. The lake was shallow but a lot of fun for my dogs on our pedal boat - this is a non-motorized lake that gets its water from the Lookout Point Reservoir. The fish were biting like crazy - it boasts of bass, bluegill, catfish and crappie. Birding is exceptional - even found a canadian goose sitting on a log with a heron within three feet! The hiking and bycycle paths were good width and meandures around this park. It was a fabulous day - we docked on an inlet and got out to do some more hiking where we found wildflowers galore, mature blackberries and had benches available along the hike that provided great views. Stayed on the North Trail the whole day - next time with hit the main park on Weirick Drive.See more..
3.5Antelope Reservoir(2 reviews) - Great for Birding Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water
WARNING: Your GPS may try to take you through a farmer's private fields. The proper route is directly off the highway and signed. The "campground" is nothing special. Basically a dirt parking area with some tables and an out house. But the birds were abundant and widely varied. We walked the road all the way to the end and sow lots of wildlife along the way.See more..

2.5Ontario State Recreation Site(2 reviews) - OK if you want to pass a quiet hour in the shade State Parks • Bodies of Water
My visiting photographer friends sought local places they could photograph as representative of this area. Having taken them to all the most distinctly scenic places I could imagine, we stopped at this shaded park on the Snake River to focus on the rest of the day. Avoiding a vehicle of questionable repute, we parked under a large tree and relaxed while planning in the serenity of the setting. It is not a park I will revisit, but it served its purpose for our needs.See more..

4.0Juntura Hot Springs(1 review) - Hidden Hot Springs near Juntura Oregon Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Hot Springs & Geysers The hot springs are marked on Google Maps. To get to them, get off US-20 just east of the bridge over the river (about 250 meters). There is a gravel "road" on the north side of the highway. Follow it as far as it goes - about a km or so. at one point, the road goes into the river. At that point, wade across the river (it was knee deep in early October) and continue on the island a bit to the left - maybe 50 meters to the spring. It's a rectangular shaped natural pool - about the size of a large living room. The water is hot and beautiful - great for a cold day (although you have to wade back acrosss the cold river). We spent about half an hour there - a great way to break up a long drive.See more..
3.0Foster Reservoir(1 review) - Officially opened in 1997 Spent < 1 hour Bodies of Water
Situated in a picturesque location this reservoir is kept in pristine condition with potential to see the views to Wilson’s Promontory and the Toora Wind Farm in the distance. There is however a lookout for those who want to see over the dam. This lookout isn't well looked after and as such, you have to view the dam through the trees. The lookout is in a great location though...so if it was cleaned up, you would have spectacular views. The giant dam holds 242 megalitres of water, covers approximately 22 hectares of land.See more..
5.0Thirtymile Creek(1 review) - Great Place to Splash Around Bodies of Water My family (including triplet 10 year old boys) stopped by here after visiting Shaniko and Fossil, OR and played in the creek. It was shallow (about 2 1/2 feet deep) and pretty wide. My boys had a ball catching tadpoles turning into frogs, playing in the water and walking way down to a very little water fall (so that a parent had to get in and get them since they had selective hearing when we called to them). It was a nice refreshing time, with warm water. There is also a port a potty.See more..
