  1. 5.0 Haystack Rock (3.271 reviews)
    - Towering scenery and raw Nature
Spent 1-2 hours Beaches • Geologic Formations
    Haystack Rock image
Haystack Rock is a unique 235 feet monolith that attracts wildlife and tourists alike and is part of the Oregon Coast’s geological history, formed millions of year ago by lava flows that created many of the dramatic capes and headlands along the coast. Haystack Rock is protected under U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a seabird nesting colony and it is part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge and is a State protected Marine Garden. The Rock is home to nesting seabirds in the summer and marine invertebrates all year. Tidepool seekers are beckoned by its wonders every day. The Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP) is a stewardship and environmental educational program whose mission is to protect, through education, the intertidal and bird ecology of the Marine Garden and Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge at Haystack Rock. HRAP offers an extensive interpretive program on the beach during the spring and summer months around low tide. See more..

    - Such a beautiful place!!
    Beaches
    Cannon Beach image
Marvel at the rugged beauty of Cannon Beach against the backdrop of Haystack Rock jutting out of the Pacific coast. Walk on the soft sand all the way to the mouth of Ecola Creek to spot Tillamook Lighthouse at a distance. While you’re at it, don’t miss the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum. You can camp overnight to discover all the attractions in the area; light a bonfire by the beach to stay warm. At low tide, walk out onto the sandbar to get closer to the sea stacks. Visit in June to catch the annual sandcastle contest. – Tripadvisor See more..
  3. 4.5 Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area (1.067 reviews)
    - Interesting geological formation!

Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area image
Very interesting geological wonder at the end of a short road through a cute little area with a winery and some restaurants/coffee houses (?) - all closed due to wildfire smoke unfortunately. The gaping formation is thought to be a result of some sea caves collapsing. I think you used to be able to walk around in it, but it’s all fenced off from what I can see. You might be able to access it from the beach somewhere but we weren’t able to thoroughly explore due to the smoke and fog. Also could be dangerous if the tide is coming in. I think we caught it at low tide. It’s a beautiful area, with rocks and caves and water swishing and swirling around deep in the “bowl”! It’s a quick visit but may take up more time when the little shops are open or if you can hike around the area! Definitely something to see! See more..

    - Pull Over!
    Beaches
    Myers Creek Beach image
As we meandered up 101 from the Redwood Forest towards our destination in Gold Beach, I gazed out the window. When we drove past the area by Myers Creek Beach I screamed PULL OVER! We all ran out of the car with our jaws on the floor because the scene didn't look real. It was absolutely gorgeous!!! The sun was shining on us but the fog was rolling in on to the coast creating a surreal looking view that I will never forget. So don't speed by- keep your eyes peeled and pull over- it is certainly worth the stop! See more..

    Prescott Beach image
While on our way to Oregon, I decided to stop at Prescott Beach to let my little one get some air. As we entered the sign said we had to pay$. First time visiting, so not sure if they accepted cards. We parked, park Ranger Beach guy came out to let us know we had to pay. He was “polite”. We paid in a bunch of coins we had laying around the car. My daughter & I hung out for 45 minutes. All the while we had a drone hovering over us. Only us was the drone hovering us. Only us, Brown folks. So, Brown folks, if you visit Prescott Beach right before entering Oregon, know you will be watched. The beach is nice. Picnic areas, beach walking area. See more..

  10. 5.0 Short Beach (3 reviews)
    - Lot to See at Short Beach
    Spent 1-2 hours Beaches
    Short Beach image
A magical cove between Cape Meares and Oceanside is where you will find the beauty of Short Beach in Tillamook County. It is easy to miss as there is only a little sign of its arrival with very nil parking and then you hike downstairs to arrive at the beach. Its 900 coastline yards boasts two waterfalls – a man-made waterfall near the trail and Larson Creek Falls farther North on the beach. The negative tide made it easy to see spiked sea urchins, sea stars of many colors, giant green anemones, musells, red sea cucumbers, hermit crabs and little fish. The sand was pretty baren so there we no fossil finding on this trip other than looking at large rocks with fossils imbedded. There was interesting mix of jasper, zeolite calcite and agates interspersed between the boulders. I found a handful of agates ranging in size of a pencil eraser up to the largest being a dime sized. I spent three hours there so it would have been great to have a restroom available. See more..
  11. 5.0 Floras Lake Beach (1 review)
    - A lake, beautiful dunes and the ocean
Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water • Beaches
    Floras Lake Beach image
We had fun to go to the Floras Lake Beach. We had to walk for 40 minutes, but it was worthwhile. Once on the dunes, we sat down and enjoyed the views around us. The ocean was wild and there was a seal in the ocean. He was very cute. The beach was huge! Lots of people can enjoy this special beach and dunes. Yes the dunes are prolific and attractive. I was told that many like to do windsurfing here, but not for today. We had fun and we loved the dunes, ocean and lake. This is a must see! See more..
