Worth every cent!

Sam did a great job leading his first trip! He was very knowledgeable of the area, came prepared for any unexpected circumstances and did a great job keeping the group together and keeping people engaged. It was great to have Kyle as a bonus guide, he added humor and well seasoned knowledge of the area and really shared his passion with us. Shout out to Colby for not only driving the bus but driving a bus with a trailer attached to it - as someone who has sent a trailer over the edge of a ramp more than once, I was impressed. All in all I would highly recommend adding Maine State Sea Kayak onto your to-do list for your trip to Acadia, the staff are great, the views are wonderful, and the wildlife is hard to beat, one of the best kayak trips I’ve gone on with guides!

Amazing Afternoon Kayak on Acadia's Quiet Side
My partner and I went on the afternoon kayak in early June 2021. We had originally planned a morning kayak but it was cancelled due to cold weather, rain, and low visibility. We were contacted in advance to let us know the trip would be cancelled and offered a refund or reschedule. We did another kayaking trip while in Acadia with a company that DID go out that day and I am so thankful that Maine State Sea Kayak prioritized both our safety and our experience and rescheduled us instead. Our guide Kyle was funny and knowledgeable about the wildlife and the area. We were able to see quite a few seals and the beginning of a beautiful sunset while hearing about the history and lore of Acadia and the surrounding areas. We also kayaked on the Bar Harbor side of the island which was fun but if you only have time/budget for one, I would absolutely recommend heading to Southwest Harbor to take this kayak. Very peaceful, onsite parking, great staff. We will be back next time we are in the area.

    Great guide and experience
Our group of 2 took a 10 am tour on 8/19 with guide Andrew, who was exceptional. As we only kayaked on lakes/rivers before, the tutorial Andrew gave with respect to the boat and equipment was very helpful and set us up for success once we were paddling. Once we were out on the water, Andrew gave us some interesting facts about what we were seeing/passing. However, where Andrew really excelled was spotting and pointing out all the wildlife we saw during our journey: whether it was listening for specific Osprey or Bald Eagle calls; pointing out seals that were swimming a few yards away; catching a few starfish for the group to see/pass around; identifying porpoises that were right up along our boat- he was on his A game. He also helped us to take a couple of pics for us in the tandem kayak during our break We had a great time on our kayak trip, and highly recommend booking a guided tour. With any luck, you’ll also have Andrew as your guide. We also had an awesome bus driver who helped unload the kayaks and other people put their spray skirts on. He was kind. We didn’t catch his name sadly but he was brunette and tall. He deserves the extra bonus as well!
