4.5Comanche Acres Iris Gardens(5 reviews) - A very nice place to stop by and to shop Thursday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Gardens
We only live a few miles from here but just made our first stop there last week. It's a really nice place to shop for plants/flowers and their retail space has a lot of nice items to choose from. Very much a local type of shop that you'd want to support so they remain in business. More personable than a lot of the larger places.See more..

We went to the down town area of New Madrid to see the Veteran's Park. The park has eight black granite monuments with names of local men and women from World War I to Gulf War from all branches. The Veteran park also has benches dedicated to local service members from World War II to Gulf War. It also has an area for those who participated in Vietnam war. The Veteran's Park is right across the street from the visitor's center and next door to the Higgerson school. Nice place to thank our Veteran's.See more..
Beautiful and peaceful place to stroll and sit. Pretty view of the Capitol. There was a photographer taking pics of a wedding party when we were there. Beautiful prairie loop and (adjacent) lake loop with paved trails and picturesque sunrise / sunset foregrounds. The two loops are linked together by a paved trail that passes under Henning Road. The prairie loop (to the east) is accessed via a long straight out-and-back from the car park. The lake loop (see attached map) proceeds west. I encountered very friendly patrons of the trails, with respectful dog walkers and a few runners. Total mileage for the prairie out-and-back loop and the lake loop was approximately 2.5 miles.See more..
