Florilegium began in 1992 in an 8′ x 10′ booth at an antique mall in Madison, Wisconsin. Our specialties were antique textiles, beadwork, embroideries, crazy quilts, ribbon, buttons, lace, and everything floral. But, the textiles were my favorite part. Slowly, new yarns, canvas, ribbons and beads began to creep in. It became a treasure trove of everything I loved. In 2004, after twelve fairy-tale years in Madison, we moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Here we responded to an increased demand for yarn, ribbons, beads and IDEAS. People began coming to Florilegium for inspiration. Every day they asked “how did you do that” or “where do you come up with all these ideas?”. So, after nine years, I decided to answer those questions in a new way. This website is the result. Decided to give something new a try and signed up for a Paddleboard lesson with Stand-Up Paddleboard St. Louis (SUP St.Louis). Lessons took place on the lake at Simpson Park in Valley Park, MO and lasted for about two hours. Check in was very casual and the instructor got us on our boards after a few minutes of instruction and general water safety. The instructor was supportive and we learned about about steering the board, how to get back on if we fall off, etc. Notably, it started pouring rain while we were out on the lake but it ended up being a blast paddling around in the cool rain. Our instructor took it in stride and made sure we felt safe. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and I'd suggest it as a fun activity for group of friends or family members. As far as attire goes, I'd don some swimwear. The boards are quite stable and while you could avoid taking a dive in the lake, swimwear will probably be a bit more comfortable.See more..

We were allowed to bring in snacks and alcohol but they sell a frozen wine slushy that was very good. Even though most of us were not very artistic, all our paintings turned out really good. The instructor takes you step by step. We all laughed, had a great time and went home with something to hang on our walls. There were about 15 of us. The staff was amazing and super fun. They had lots of pottery pieces that were there just waiting for you to come in and paint the colors you envision. I have not had time to go paint a piece but that would also be fun to do with a friend or a large group of friends. This would also be fun for mature kids, a scouting event or a birthday party.See more..
