Saint Joseph Missouri was the start of the Pony Express! This is a must see statue that really brings the Pony Express to life! You can take photos of the statue from each direction. There is street parking right next to it. I was puzzled as to what the "single claw" coming out from beneath the horse was? See photo. I loved the detail given both the horse and rider - it made it seem so real and alive! The statue needs a good washing as the rider is covered in bird poop and the grassy area around the statue was overgrown.See more..

4.5Trails End Monument(41 reviews) - Beautiful Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Trails End Monument is a wonderful attraction in Sedalia. Though it is visible from the two major streets, it is worth getting out and exploring in detail by walking around the monument. A nice sidewalk has been built just for that. The parking lot for the monument is accessible through the Missouri State Fair grounds. The well-built historical monument depicts the history of trails and railroad of Sedalia. A free audio tour can be dialed up on the phone while walking around the monument. This is certainly a worthwhile stop in Sedalia.See more..

The Veteran park also has benches dedicated to local service members from World War II to Gulf War. It also has an area for those who participated in Vietnam war. The Veteran's Park is right across the street from the visitor's center and next door to the Higgerson school. Nice place to thank our Veteran's.See more..
5.0Trail of Tears Memorial and Herbal Gardens(3 reviews) - Awesome and Peaceful Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues You could miss this if you don't know whet you are looking for. There is a beautiful statue of a native American on the side of the road next to the driveway. We pulled in next to the drive and walked on to the property. Legend says that the owner of the huse heard voices which belonged to the native Americans walking on the trail which ran through his house. All of the statues refer to that. There is also a wishing well and several grottoes where you can reflect. The drive in narrow, unpaved and steep so we did not go farther than the front yard.See more..

This may very well be where I am laid to rest. I had not been to the Memorial until this year, but kept passing by as I would travel to the VA in Poplar Bluff. This is a serene well kept haven of our nations finest. If you have the opportunity, there is no greater honor than visiting these soldiers on holidays, or just any ordinary day can be made special. I love walking among my fallen comrades and honor their names and service.See more..
5.0German Immigrant Memorial(2 reviews) - Easy to miss, but stop by for a few mintues Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Our group of four couples had to stop by here since we were walking right by in downtown Cole Camp. We really lucked out because the caretaker of the exhibit was working next door at his art studio. He came out and explained the "code" of how the bricks are laid out and numbered. At the top of the display on the back of the marble monument is a map of part of Germany where many of the original Cole Camp immigrants came from. The bricks in that area are numbered and the bricks closest to the street correspond to those immigrants so entire family histories can be seen. Young kids won't appreciate the work in the monument, but adults will. And if you are lucky enough to have the gentleman we met come out and visit, he has plenty of great stories to share about funding and his hopes for the monument in the future.See more..
