    Burgers' Zoo and Safaripark image
On March 31, 1913, Faisanterie Buitenlust, the forerunner of the current modern animal park Burgers' Zoo, opens its doors to the public for the first time. Since its foundation by Johan Burgers, the first owner and the one who named the animal park in Arnhem, the park has always remained a real family business. Already from its inception the zoo caused a sensation due to its daring new organisation, which naturally is in the way the animals' accommodations are shaped as well as in the way the experiences for the visitors are created. Burgers' Zoo has a rich history, which has shaped the zoo into the way it is today, and as you can still find it now in the wooded area just north of Arnhem. See more..

De Hoge Veluwe National Park image
De Hoge Veluwe National Park is - partly due to the variety of landscapes - the most surprising national park in the Netherlands. The Park is famous for its rare animal and plant species. There are excellent possibilities for wildlife observation in the Park. With over 40 kilometers of paved cycle paths, free to use White Bicycles and a lot of different walking routes, the Park offers something for everyone. The visitor will also come across a number of monuments by famous architects Berlage and Van de Velde in the Park. The famous country residence/museum Jachthuis Sint Hubertus is perhaps the most impressive example. What a lovely park! I was struck by the beauty and the variety of experiences to be enjoyed here - a meandering stream, waterfalls, bridges, formal gardens, fountains, city views, forested areas, meadows, a pasture with cows, numerous paths/trails, peaceful ponds with swans, geese and ducks, benches scattered throughout, and several excellent eating establishments. Such a serene place to spend time. As a bonus, it's conveniently close to the central railroad station (5 minute walk). It is worth a trip to Arnhem just to experience this park. I look forward to returning to spend more time in this magical place. See more..

    - You can climb up to the top.
Sunday: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
    Stevenskerk image
Stevenskerk, inspiring meeting place for art, culture and contemplation. Construction of the church started halfway the 13th century. In 1273 the church was consecrated by Albert Magnus, the Bishop of Cologne. Of this Roman Gothic church the groundwork and the most Western bays of the ship remain. Extensive construction took place in the course of the 15th century, among others the choir and the chapels. In the 16th century work was done on the transept and small part of the ship. After about 1650 construction stopped, which left the church unfinished. The tower was fitted with a new clock floor in the 15th century. During the bombing on Nijmegen February 22nd 1944, a large part of the tower collapsed. The South-Western part of the church was heavily damaged. Also in the period during the Second World War where Nijmegen was on the front the church incurred a lot of damage. After the WWII the church was thoroughly renovated. See more..

    - Interesting and fun museum
    Speciality Museums
    Nederlands Bakkerij Museum image
Kids can get their hands ‘dirty’ when cooking gingerbread cookies. Interesting displays about baking and the baker’s (family) life in the old days. The life bread demo was fun to watch and kept everyone entertained for quite some time. Treasure hunts available for different ages. The layout with multiple buildings is funny and embers the museum in the old streets of Hattem. The typical ‘poffertjes’ are a treat after the tour. See more..

    Beeldengalerij Het Depot image
We've been here for two times and both experiences have been amazing! There is no entrance fee and the arts exhibits are very creative and beautiful (which amaze us because they are shown for free). There is also a small, cozy restaurant inside the gallery, which offers high quality products (e.g. biological/organic and fair trade chocolates, teas). The price of their food though is a little bit higher than normal restaurants. But still, it is just a bonus to dine in if you want to complete the experience of the place. Finally, you can walk around outside their garden to see other species of trees, plants, and flowers. See more..

  23. 4.5 Kasteel Huis Bergh (138 reviews)
    - Very nice castle close to the German border
    Castles
    Kasteel Huis Bergh image
See more..

Very well designed and maintained for a great day of relaxation and to lie down with the infra red lights while looking out over the lake just breath taking. The entry price is such good value and for a little bit its worth having the 25 minute massage. Lunch is good with plenty of healthy choices if possibly a little pricey, ideally bring your own robe and towel to save paying extra for them. All in all a great experience i will difinitely be back See more..

This edition of the Veluws Zandsculpturenfestijn "75 Years of Liberty" in Garderen, takes you back to the time of WWII. From the music to all the decorations, you really imagine yourself in the war years. In addition to important battles from WWII, such as the 'Battle of Arnhem' and 'D-Day', the liberation, the life of Anne Frank, our resistance heroes, the cartoons, Radio Oranje and the Royal House are also fully discussed. The sand sculptures of the 'Battle of Arnhem' and 'Pearl Harbor' (11 meters long and almost 5 meters high!) are truly impressive. Dioramas introduce you to a beautifully crafted, detailed wartime sand world in miniature, on a 1:5 scale. We visited yesterday, at the 10th of June 2021, you have to buy tickets online with a timelock upfront. Entrance fee € 10,00 p.p. It was closed during lockdown and reopened at the 5th of June 2021. A lovely place to visit specially in the summer. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the tour without a guide in February. There is audio at certain points (only Dutch). Lots of information about the forestry projects and tools used. The coach house is used for catering now. It has been renovated beautifully. An interesting history of the owners together with the portraits. Worth a visit if you are in the area. See more..
