- 5.0 Bizarium (376 reviews)
-This quirky museum is a must visit
Monday: Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
Bizarium is a remarkable cabinet of bizarre inventions. A 'wonder room' of brilliant inventors and their boundless imagination, technical ingenuity and especially infinite passion. Bizarium museum inspires and wonders with ingenious, scientific and crazy inventions. Just think of a flying bicycle, a walking submarine, a hair growth helmet, a swimming umbrella, as well as designs by geniuses such as Leonardo da Vinci, Athanasius Kircher and Nikola Tesla. This exceptional, private collection conveys the message that failure and experimentation are at the heart of innovation and progress. Bizarium is located in the picturesque town of Sluis in Zeeland (NL), a stone's throw from Cadzand, Knokke and the Belgian border. See more..

-Great experience for the 2nd time and we’ll come back for sure!
Boat Tours • Water Sports
Our 2nd time that we joined sailor Marco (and his wife Monica) on a sailing trip. Again a great experience. Booking is a very easy process and he lets the crew do the sailing most of the time, which is so cool. We have seen seals enjoying their sunbath as the weather was stunning for sailing. We will do this again for sure! Thanks Marco & Monica for the great experiencr!! See more..

-Great fun on the water!
Monday: Gear Rentals • Stand Up Paddleboarding
We had a great afternoon, SUPping with Michael on a canal near Cadzand. He was a very friendly and relaxed instructor and made sure that we were up and SUPping really quick. It was great fun to try little stunts on the boards and make little challenges within the group. The material was in really good shape. This is really a fun activity to do!! See more..

- 5.0 Waterfront Jachtcharter (52 reviews)
-Great ships, great team
Boat Rentals
We chartered a Linssen Grand Sturdy 40 the week before Easter. Danny was very helpful in preparing the trip and took great care in explaining everything to us despite of our rather delayed arrival. The ship was in perfect condition, looking like new. Plenty of space and comfort on board and very nice to sail! The marina in Kortgene is excellent, from the car to the ship it was less than 50 meters and plenty of chariots were available. We spent a fantasic week on board and the return was easy, since fuel station and waste pump are directly in the marina. We highly recommend Waterfront Jachtcharter if you look for a sailing or motor yacht in Zeeland. See more..

- 4.5 Watersnoodmuseum (439 reviews)
-An absolute must when visiting the Netherlands
Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
I lived in the Netherlands for 22 years and had read about the water disatster and had heard about it from collegues, but nothing prepares you for the experience of this museum. I always just thought a dyke broke and an area was flooded. However the scale of the disaster was enormous and this museum really gives a wonderful account of what happened with stories about real people and what they went through. I would describe it as a Tsunami hitting the Dutch coast in 1953 and killing more than 2000 people. It's very sad but gives a great account of the disaster and the way the Dutch have defended their coast now with the Delta works. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful. Thank you so much for making our visit wonderful. See more..

- 4.5 Plompetoren (222 reviews)
-Amazing view and nice legend
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The stumb tower in Koudekerke is linked to a legend. The tower is the only remaining building from the town. The inhabitants caught a mermaid and let her die. Her husband cursed the town in response. So a storm destroyed it all and left only the tower... See more..
- 4.5 Maritime muZEEum (171 reviews)
-Check out the "Control Tower"
Monday: Spent 2-3 hours Children's Museums • History Museums
Come and get to know the unknown site of the province of Zeeland and the soul of its people in the new and magnificent maritime muZEEum in Vlissingen, Holland. The museum is housed in several buildings, dating back to the 16th and 21th century. Modern architecture has blended these buildings in a very special way. From the roof balcony with its unique 17th century watchtower you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the 'Westerschelde'. At the muZEEum you find: - The Lampsins'beautifull 17th century town house - Michiel de Ruyter's adventures - Underwater treasure from sunk East Indiamen - Fascinating maritime games - Stories about Zeeland's illustrious past - Vlissingen's turbulent history - Zeeland's maritime life, then and now. Great intro lesson for the 2 of us- switching between Dutch and English. Our instructor - Britt- was a really fun and interactive teacher, she made it a really enjoyable experience. - 4.5 Stoomtrein Goes-Borsele (99 reviews)
-Historic train in the rain
Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
Lovely activity for train enthusiasts, those young at heart or generally historically interested. Lovely way to feel and experience history. The steamtrain and it's stations give you moneys worth of experiences and was a good days activity. This is indeed best experienced on a sunny day, but despite the rain we had a good day. Sometimes it was obvious that this was not very professional, but my hat off to all the volunteers making the train running days come through. See more..

- 4.5 Vrouwenpolder Beach (87 reviews)
-Great nude beach, popular with Belgian, Dutch and German gays.
Beaches
Vrouwenpolder Beach has also a naturist section. It's very popular with Belgians as they don't have anything similar in Belgium. And especially gays are fond of it. There's always some cruising around but be aware, it's not allowed to walk in the dunes. But as the distance between 2 warning signs is rather large, you can always pretend you're not really in the dunes. See more..
- 4.5 Lighthouse Westkapelle (high) (81 reviews)
-A moving experience..
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
There's some confusion in this review because the lighthouse is officially the very tall building right in the town not the red and white structure shown in two of the photos. In the grounds of the lighthouse are graves and monuments remembering the civilians who were killed in 1944 during the fighting to liberate Walcharan. On 1 Nov 2014 I attended the 70th anniversary memorial ceremony to remember those who died. When you visit here walk round the memorials reading the names and ages - it's very moving. See more..
- 4.5 Passagiersschip Onrust (79 reviews)
-Mussel Trip
Sightseeing Tours
Eating very fresh, traditionally cooked mussels in board, all you can eat, while watching porpoises, seals and countless water birds... we loved it. See more..
- 4.5 Wijnhoeve de kleine Schorre (71 reviews)
-Enjoyable surprise
Wineries & Vineyards
We had heard in South Africa (our guest house owners in Tulbagh) that there are wineries in this area. But it was nice surprise to see one on our way to Schuddebeurs. Really enjoyable visit. We bought nice food platter and tasted their local wines. Service was very friendly and wines really enjoyable. In future this may be great quality wine area. We bought one box, sparkling is bit expensive. But there is some extra value due its rarity. See more..
- 4.5 Oesterij (71 reviews)
-Restaurant museum shop 3 in 1
Speciality & Gift Shops • Ships • Educational sites
Oysters were extremely fresh and delicious. The service was polite and quick. You can find there a small museum showing oyster fishing process, which is quite interesting. We also bought some oysters and local wine in the shop. The price is reasonable. See more..

- 4.5 Polderhuis Westkapelle Dijk- en Oorlogsmuseum (61 reviews)

Small Museum but very well laid out! Sherman Tank on top of the hill and a Royal Marines landing craft also outside! See more..
- 4.5 Zuidhavenpoort Zierikzee (58 reviews)
-Once effective protection of city and harbour
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
Built during medieval times before gunpowder was invented or at least not widely used yet, The core of Zuidhavenpoort dates from the 14th century and was improved in the 1500s. End 18th century the gatebuilding got its definitive shape. As a military object it must have been impressive in 16th century Zeeland and effective in protecting the harbour and city, though eventually after a long siege Zierikzee fell to the Spanish (1576). The city never really recovered, one of the reasons so many historic buildings have remained intact. More prosperous cities demolished most medieval structures. See more..
- 4.5 Liberation Museum Zeeland (56 reviews)
-Fantastic collection and preservation of WWII info and artifacts! I learned so much!
Monday: Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
The Bevrijdingsmuseum (Liberation Museum) in Zeeland shows the eventful history of Zeeland during World War II. The museum has a particular focus on the 'Battle of the Scheldt'. Until now, there has been too little awareness and recognition, both nationally and internationally, of the importance of this battle. The largely forgotten Battle of the Scheldt was the longest and fiercest battle on Dutch territory. What was at stake was the opening-up of the port of Antwerp to shipping. This would make it possible to provide the Allied war effort with a crucial supply line and allow the stalled offensive in Western Europe to starting moving again. The outcome of this crucial operation was directly decisive for the further course of the Second World War in Western Europe. The museum also pays tribute to the Zeeland Battalion. This consisted largely of volunteers who, after the liberation of Zeeland, wanted to join in the fight for the liberation of the Netherlands and Western Europe. After World War II, however, the battalion was sent to the Dutch East Indies. From 2017, visitors can also see the new 3-hectare Bevrijdingspark (Liberation Park) in Zeeland. The concept of the Liberation Park is unique. Nowhere in Western Europe is there a similar layout. Set amongst the characteristic Zeeland elements of water, beach and dikes, the park illustrates the period of the 1939-1945 war and the Battle of the Scheldt in particular. The unique and preserved noodkerk (emergency church) of Ellewoutsdijk was reconstructed and rebuilt in the park. This emergency church, after the destruction of the original church by a bombardment, was constructed from so-called Nissen huts. Another unique feature is the Stiltebos (silent wood), a place where there is room for contemplation and reflection. In addition, the Liberation Park features bunkers, a bailey bridge, roadblocks, a Sherman tank and so on. See more..
