The museum is housed in several buildings, dating back to the 16th and 21th century. Modern architecture has blended these buildings in a very special way. Nice surprise
We weren't planning on visiting this museum, but we went through the Reptile Museum down the street quite quickly and decided to go into this one as well (always handy with the national Museumkaart). The staff, clearly volunteers, were so incredibly friendly and hospitable, sharing historical information as we walked through the beautiful facilities. There are plenty of maritime museums in the Netherlands, but not one can boast being located in the city that saw the birth of Michiel de Ruyter! This one can, and that makes it extra special.

great tour with the audioguide through the museum. learned interesting facts about the heydays of the city / area. interesting, and very nice done enjoyable 2 hour visit.
