Arguably the most historically poignant landmark in Arnhem, The John Frost Bridge is depicted in A Bridge Too Far and based on the true events of the Battle of Arnhem. The bridge was renamed the John Frostbrug officially in December 1977 and great views can be had from the side of the Lower Rhine (Neder Rijn) River. We got excellent views of all Nijmegen’s bridges as we travelled in from 's-Hertogenbosch, especially Waalbrug above the Waal, a branch of the Rhine. It’s located near many small beaches and the area appears to be a popular spot especially during good weather. Apparently the bridge is over six-hundred metres long and of course it played a part to operations during World War II. See more..
