We got excellent views of all Nijmegen’s bridges as we travelled in from 's-Hertogenbosch, especially Waalbrug above the Waal, a branch of the Rhine. It’s located near many small beaches and the area appears to be a popular spot especially during good weather. Apparently the bridge is over six-hundred metres long and of course it played a part to operations during World War II. See more..

Since we visited the highest point of the Netherland the day before, we just had to visit this place as well when we passed it on our route. We had some difficulties finding the exact location. There are hardly any road signs, but with help of google maps we managed. The place it self is nothing special. It is more the idea that you have been to the place. See more..

Welkom op het eeuwenoude landgoed in de Betuwe. Ieder jaargetijde is er veel te beleven op Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt. Ontdek de historie, natuur, lanen, bossen en akkers van het landgoed tijdens een wandeling of fietstocht. Proef onze biologische landgoedproducten en neem ze mee voor thuis. Geniet van het buitenleven tijdens de Landgoedfair in de derde week van augustus. Of vergader of trouw op het landgoed. Mariënwaerdt is een familielandgoed van ruim 900 hectare. Het is al sinds 1734 van onze familie. Inmiddels beheert de 9e generatie het landgoed. De naam ‘Heerlijkheid’ verwijst naar de ‘heerlijke’ rechten die de eigenaar van het landgoed bij aankoop kreeg: jacht-, pacht- en visrecht plus beheer van wegen en watergangen. De naam ‘Mariënwaerdt’ betekent ‘eiland van Maria’. Een waard is de oude benaming voor een stuk land dat ingesloten is door rivieren. See more..
