On March 31, 1913, Faisanterie Buitenlust, the forerunner of the current modern animal park Burgers' Zoo, opens its doors to the public for the first time. Since its foundation by Johan Burgers, the first owner and the one who named the animal park in Arnhem, the park has always remained a real family business. Already from its inception the zoo caused a sensation due to its daring new organisation, which naturally is in the way the animals' accommodations are shaped as well as in the way the experiences for the visitors are created. Burgers' Zoo has a rich history, which has shaped the zoo into the way it is today, and as you can still find it now in the wooded area just north of Arnhem.See more..

I came here with my daughter for a treat while visiting Holland ,it is an amazing place so many different saunas to experience and the salt water pool in the cave is a lovely experience . Very well designed and maintained for a great day of relaxation and to lie down with the infra red lights while looking out over the lake just breath taking. The entry price is such good value and for a little bit its worth having the 25 minute massage. Lunch is good with plenty of healthy choices if possibly a little pricey, ideally bring your own robe and towel to save paying extra for them. All in all a great experience i will difinitely be backSee more..

Such a serene place to spend time. As a bonus, it's conveniently close to the central railroad station (5 minute walk). It is worth a trip to Arnhem just to experience this park. 4.5Stevenskerk(282 reviews) - You can climb up to the top. Tuesday: 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
Stevenskerk, inspiring meeting place for art, culture and contemplation. Construction of the church started halfway the 13th century. In 1273 the church was consecrated by Albert Magnus, the Bishop of Cologne. Of this Roman Gothic church the groundwork and the most Western bays of the ship remain. Extensive construction took place in the course of the 15th century, among others the choir and the chapels. In the 16th century work was done on the transept and small part of the ship. After about 1650 construction stopped, which left the church unfinished. The tower was fitted with a new clock floor in the 15th century. During the bombing on Nijmegen February 22nd 1944, a large part of the tower collapsed. The South-Western part of the church was heavily damaged. Also in the period during the Second World War where Nijmegen was on the front the church incurred a lot of damage. After the WWII the church was thoroughly renovated.See more..

4.5Kasteel Huis Bergh(138 reviews) - Very nice castle close to the German border Castles
For me seeing the plaque for the Junyo Maru torpedoed accidently by the British on which my grandfather lost his life had special meaning. See more..
4.5Airborne at the bridge(129 reviews) - Well worth a visit. Military Museums • History Museums
We spent an hour or so chatting to the friendly chaps there who were very knowledgeable about what happened on 17 September 1944 and, of course, the following days. They were keen to explain what actually happened and not as depicted in the film “A Bridge Too Far”. We learned that the current bridge is actually the 3rd one! The Dutch blew the first one up, then it was rebuilt and destroyed by bombing and the German retreating destroyed it. The bridges’ foundation is original. The small museum is free to enter with explanations and short films. Of course a great view of the current bridge from the seating area. Please leave a donation if you enjoyed the company - we did both.See more..
