Great museum with lots of charm

The Freedom Museum is right in the area of 2 of the most important operations on the Western Front during WW2: Market Garden and Veritable. The visitors experience the fascinating Story of War and Freedom without Borders in both the Netherlands, Germany, Europe and beyond. The visitor is challenged to think critically about freedom then and now, full of experiences, interactivity and masterpieces.

An excellent place to learn and remember
The museum is split into several sections - Dutch life before and during the Second World War, the Operation Market Garden ("A Bridge too Far"), results of war and the Remembrance Dome. Everything is explained in Dutch, English and German. During our visit, there was also a temporary exhibition about Dance during the occupation of Nijmegen. There is a cafe on site. All staff were friendly and very helpful. Definitely worth a day trip - just remember to leave time to visit the nearby Canadian War Cemetry!

    Enlightening insights
This museum has recently had some additional work done. Well laid out and giving a perspective more from the civilian point of view, which is important to understand. The interactive displays are in several languages so all visitors can understand. At time of visit café was a little understocked, but that could have been time of day. An important museum to visit in order to add to an understanding of this area and 1944.
