Historic Gothic church

The Eusebius Church in Arnhem has dominated the skyline of the city of Arnhem for more than five centuries now and tells the history of the capital of the province of Gelderland from the Middle Ages until the Second World War and the post-war reconstruction. The Eusebius Church is both historical and contemporary. Enjoy the incredible view of the Arnhem skyline from the panorama lift (up to a height of 73 meters) and the amazing glass balconies! Do you dare to walk on them?

    Historic Gothic church
Well known for its role in World War II and history surrounding John Frost’s attempted taking of the bridge in Operation Market Garden, St Eusebius' Church is the largest building in Arnhem. We had visited specifically for the spire views where you can look across the city, but happened to arrive on the one day the lift was out of service! Bad luck there. Otherwise, it was great to look around. The restoration is evident after it was decimated during the War.

Great city view, church days are over.
If you want to see the former Church without scaffolding, come back in 20 years time. Or sooner if you can reduce the 60 million euros shortage of funds for the restauration. The building hosts a variety of exhibitions and no longer serves as a church. The tower is one of the only church towers in Holland with an elevator accessible for wheel chairs. Will set you back a few Euro's, but on top you have a magnificent few over Arnhem with on the south side the river Rijn and the battle ground in WW II. On the north side the moraine from the last Ice Age. If you already contributed lavishly to the restauration fund and are running out of money, you can enjoy the same view from the roof terrace of the new library called Rozet. Take the elevator to the fifth floor. Accessible for wheel chairs. Since this is a public building this is free of charge.
