Brilliant visit to glass artist museum
The Lalique Museum, located in the historic town of Doesburg, is entirely devoted to the Da Vinci of jewellery and glass art of Rene Lalique (1860-1945 ). Among others, the collection comprises gold and glass jewellery, vases and hundreds of unique perfumebottles created and designed by Rene Lalique. Visitors are welcomed in two monumental buildings with a warm and unique character. A must see for art nouveau and art deco lovers.

Pretty but incoherent
The glass, silver, and jewellery on display is nice but not astounding. There is virtually no information although the very kind volunteers are enthusiastic about answering questions. Worth a visit for die-hard fans or those who don't have to pay full price, otherwise maybe don't bother. The buildings, however, are wonderful (and deserve information in their own right) except for dire accessibility.

Worth the effort
Set a beautiful home is an expansive collection of superb examples of Lalique’s work: hat pins, brooches, enamel, perfume bottles, carafe, wine glasses, handbag, light fittings the full breadth. The items are presented at eye height for ease of viewing, magnifying glasses are available and all is we lit. When we were there here was Chagall exhibition paired with the permanent collection . To the rear is drawing room that serves simple refreshments. The museum is a magnet for ladies that lunch and feels like a private club. The down side is the beautiful building: the entrance. Is too narrow for the volume of visitors . The stairs to the upper galleries are very steep. Completely in accessible to anyone infirm or in a wheel chair. Open from 11.30-5 daily . Free with Museum card or 15 euros.
