Amazingly beautiful Willink collection

And stunning Mathilde Willink dresses exhibited in a pristinely restored castle. The dichotomy between the subject and the background of the artist’s work is provocative. The castle’s new woodwork is a joy to the eye. Very much worth the visit.

Stunning museum with very nice art collection
I don't know what struck me the most. Was it the beautiful building, restored to perfection at (undoubtably) high cost? Was it the art collection, mostly by Carel Willink? Or was it the fact that all of this is has been realized by a couple, deciding to invest their money in a museum like this? Walking through the different rooms, it was very different from other museums. It seemed almost empty, leaving lots of space open. This brought the focus to the art that was on display, but also on the beautiful ceilings, walls, and hardwood floors. Also it is stunning how the restoration was done with great taste, leaving the very old buildiing intact but still adding modern touches such as the glass bridge and the glass entry.

Beautiful museum dedicated to themagic-realistic painter Carel Willink
Beautiful location for a museum dedicated to only one Dutch painter, Carel Willink. Willink is well-known for his magic-realism. The museum gives you a nice overview about the painter and his development through the years and the different style periods.
