We Fell in love with Hildene!

This home is magical! I can't believe we did not make the day trip sooner! Hildene was only an hour's drive for us from the Albany area, but honestly I would have driven hours to see this beauty! The area is charming, and our entire experience was worth every penny of the very reasonable admission fee for a self guided tour. The entire day, from the lovely gift shop to the fantastic docents in the house, was wonderful! My favorite thing about the house was the 1908 pipe organ that played every 15 minutes! It's something you really have to experience! It was also cool to see Lincoln's top hat & mirror from the White House dressing room. My only regret was that we missed the Pullman car, which I hear is a must see (but we will be back)! I wish we had allowed more time. We ended up spending a lot of time in the gardens because they were so spectacular. The views were breathtaking! Don't miss out on seeing Hildene. One of my new favorite places!

Very informative and full of History
This was a great place to visit. However, to get the most out of your visit, the tour is the way to go. There is an added fee for the tour, but it is completely worth it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and was happy to answer questions. If you walk through the home on your own, there is signage describing the rooms, but the real information about the family...you will learn that on a tour. Tours must be reserved 48 hours ahead of time, although when we visited the tour was not sold out, so we were able to join at the last minute.

Hildene - The Lincoln legacy carried on through a wonderful group of people. A must experience for people of all ages.
Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home in Manchester VT is a must experience. I grew up in Manchester but it wasn’t until I returned many years later that I got to experience a private tour of Hildene. Let me tell you it was well worth it. Such a beautiful home and so well preserved and our tour guide Nancy was phenomenal. Talk about someone who truly loves what she does and is a wealth of knowledge and such amazing energy as she guides you through the Lincoln’s Family Home. Our private group consisted of my family ranging in ages from 8 to 58 (Myself being 31). Everyone at all the different ages were impressed, engaged, and entertained. Take the time next time you are in my home town to go to Hildene, well worth it. Beautiful views, well preserved history, amazing stories of the past are just a few of the reasons to visit (also has an amazing wedding venue if you are getting married). Thank you Hildene (and your staff) for the experience, thank you Nancy for the engaging, energetic, enthusiastic, passionate tour & thank you Nan Bambara for this wonderful gift. We will definitely be back to visit next time we are in town. Sincerely, Zachary Zoufaly
