Nice, but the shop experience was diappointing
I can only comment based on seeing from ground. It is an impressive sight. I expect the views from top are fabulous. I was planning to go up, but as I was in line some woman (Iam guessing a tour leader) basically shoved her way to front and stood there barking commands to pass out tickets to her group one by one - when she could easily have taken them, cleared to area of herself and her loud, pushy group. Since it was apparent I would be stuck with them and already a bit concerned due to the height, I made the (IMO) wise decision to stay on the ground. The small shop was packed and definitely no adherence to any social distancing was important to anyone. OI would have thought the people manning the desk might have been a bit more in control.

    Impressive but closed
We stopped here on a rainy morning and were disappointed both the monument and the visitor's center were closed. There are two statues on the grounds worth looking at and the stonework on the monument is interesting. The neighborhood has many wondeful Colonial era homes.
