4.5Wilpena Pound(495 reviews) - St Mary's Peak trail - do it, but be prepared! Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
The St Mary's Peak Trail gives you unparalleled views of the Pound and is a good workout for fit people. For the less fit, it could be a struggle. We scaled the outside wall first and finished via the inside track - 18km in total. Take enough water, a walking stick would be good, too. And the final bit of the outside track up to the Saddle is quite strenuous - you need good mobility. Worth the effort though. Start off in the morning!!See more..
I hadn’t been here in many years but on our way back from a road trip I suddenly remembered the Whispering wall and I found it to be better than I remembered. It’s quite unique that you can chat to each other through the wall quite a distance apart. My husband crossed over the bridge which in itself is very scenic with water on one side and then the wall which dips down. It’s hard to describe this place, I highly recommend it though. And it’s free!See more..
This is such a cool and unique structure... looks like something straight out of a Sci-Fi movie. You must see it! The obelisk is only a short walk out of the centre of town and you can easily drive to it as well with plenty of room in the carpark for a van as well. There is a fence that stops you getting right to the base of it as the cliffs are to dangerous but you can still get some great shots. “Jonique Life” Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.See more..

5.0Great Australian Bight(161 reviews) - Exceptional Journey Points of Interest & Landmarks
We spent a day driving 900km exploring this jewel of our state. School holidays but very quiet on the roads. We pulled in at three vantage points which each providing unique views and experiences. We viewed the whales of which there were around 16 including calves showing off. It was hard to leave. Great gift and food service at the shop and top staff. This is a must do during whale season. The other sites provided us close vision of the magic rugged eroded cliffs. Incomparable.See more..
Who doesn’t love a bit of weird aussie history. I’ve only just read the reviews that the caretaker said he had been closed for 6 months! I asked in town if we could just go out there so we did. A couple of other tourists were there when we arrived who said it is open to go in. We were then greeted by the three gorgeous dogs, like other reviewers have said, they were our tour guide. You have to go in with an open mind but we enjoyed our time exploring. Thanks for having us! See more..
4.5Ceduna Jetty(129 reviews) - Perfect spot to capture beautiful sunsets Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
Well maintained jetty. Plenty of fishermen enjoy this spot. We were here for sunset. Plenty of Parking available. Looks like a nice beach to swim at in summer. Like that there is a shelter area at the end of the jetty.See more..
4.0The Bunyip(127 reviews) - An interesting story Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
I visited the Bunyip with my kid's ages 7 and 8. They were excited to see the Bunyip as I read them the story of how he came to be. They were also curious to see if the Bunyip was real or not. The story was probably the highlight as it has good discussion points about taking more than you need from the sea/nature. I wouldn't go out of my way to see the attraction however if you are in the area it is worth checking out.See more..
3.5Big Winch 360(120 reviews) - Lookout Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
With spectacular views over Coober Pedy, the Big Winch has been a popular attraction and meeting place for visitors and locals since it was built by Claus Wirries in the early 1970’s. Claus was an opportunistic man who had an eye for things that would appeal to visitors. Pictures of his trademark bowler hat and the dachshunds who had their own dugout kennel must feature in travel diaries around the world. Claus was a man of vision, a persuasive man who helped many people but he over-reached and, in the end, had make a quick departure from town. The Steel Tree The steel tree on the hill overlooking the town with the Big Winch was created by Bob Amorosi to give his kids the experience of a tree in a town that, at that time, had no trees. The twisted metal used to construct the tree, resulting from a freight truck fire around 200km south of Coober Pedy.See more..
4.0Dog Fence(117 reviews) - Visit the Dog fence Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
Drive out to the Breakaways, which is fascinating in itself, and where the ocean from millenia ago lapped these hills. Beautiful colours, probably made more dramatic at sunrise and sunset. Then take the road back to Coober Pedy via the Dog Fence. It is a dirt road but very drivable. See more..
4.5Bowman Scenic Drive(108 reviews) - A Must to do when in Beachport. Points of Interest & Landmarks
We have to been to Beachport a few times and each time make sure we travel the Bowman Scenic Drive. The views are stunning and depending on the weather have a much different mood. Our latest trip was in windy weather so the seas were high and the crashing waves made for superb viewing. Several lookouts with parking have been made along the drive enabling great views of a stunning coastline. The windy road ensures many viewing surprises along the way. With names like the Salmon Hole, Post Office Rock and Pool of Siloam, the trip is well worth taking time to enjoy. The entire drive also takes in various historic parts of the town. The drive does not require a 4WD as the most of the drive is on sealed roads. The unsealed section is reasonably well maintained. Return? Most definitely next time in Beachport.See more..
Our kids a star wars fans, so this was just awesome for them. They got very excited and it's free. Drive down the main street and you won't miss it!!See more..
4.5The Goolwa Barrage(98 reviews) - Crossing the Bar Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
The barrage is one of my favourite places to visit in Goolwa. It is easily reached by car, and has easy level access on arrival. There is ample car parking and well kept gardens to welcome the visitor. The barrage crosses the Murray mouth, inhibiting the flow of water to the sea. It is a haven for water birds: this visit we enjoyed a heron, pelicans, black swans and terns amongst others. I walked half way across to the lock in time to see a small tourist boat pass through. It is quite safe, and there are toilet facilities. It makes an interesting family visit.See more..

Great variety of souvenirs at this store. A lot of character to the toilet facilities. Love the Big Galah! This can be your first stop when you arrive in Kangaroo Island if taking the Ferry. 4.5Farina(55 reviews) - A Surprise in the Outback Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
The underground bakery had been recommended by other travellers. We would of had no idea as it is off the main road. Wow, wow, the bakery is only open a couple of months and run by volunteers. The nest food. The fruit loaf was absolutely amazing as well as the bread and sweets. Also bought some napkin holders all made locally. Then we spent quite a while walking around this ongoing restoration of Farina. Those volunteers are totally committed. Take the time to visit you won’t be disappointed.See more..

The silos at Kimba have been painted as part of a series of such silo art works. This is a wonderful depiction of a child holding a feather, looking out over farming countryside under a brilliant sunset. I think it is quite amazing that artists can create paintings on this massive scale.See more..

4.5Point Lowly Lighthouse(46 reviews) - Stay at the lighthouse! Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lighthouses
After visiting the lighthouse and area many times. Chose to book the lighthouse keepers cottage with a group of 11. Great stay. Simple accommodation, but very comfortable. 4.5Mutonia Sculpture Park(37 reviews) - Interesting and creative sculptures Points of Interest & Landmarks
Interesting and creative sculptures that you can get up close to. This park is made even more intriguing by the complete lack of any explanation as to why it’s here and who created the art. When we visited, it was very windy so catching and dodging the tumbleweeds added an extra dimension of entertainment!See more..

No newspapers, posters or invitations are printed here now. The owner just walked out. With a few machined now working and others waiting restoration, we could see how all of it was done. Decades of company records of orders, job instructions and accounts have been found and are being digitised. Most importantly, the volunteers form the local history club provide a warm welcome and an insightful tour (Wed - Fri). One of the many things to see in Peterborough.See more..
4.0Father Woods Park(32 reviews) - Inspirational Stop Point north of Penola Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
21 Kilometres north of Penola on the Riddock Highway is this memorial park to Father Woods. A Roman Catholic priest whose life is commemorated here. The large carved wooden sculptures feature the varying aspects of his life. Beautifully detailed with rich golden tonings combined with information plaques about each sculpture make this park even more meaningful. There is also a cross reference to Mary MacKillop as her work in the area was inspired by Father Woods. A large car park is off-road and will take from cars through to vans. This is a good stop point travelling to or from Penola. The day we were there was cold with showers giving an idea of some of the conditions in which Father Woods would have worked. There was also one sculpture not in the park as it was undergoing restoration. Return? Maybe in travelling that way again and hopefully see the “missing” sculpture.See more..
5.0Waikerie Silo Art(30 reviews) - Worth a detour Points of Interest & Landmarks
Normally I wouldn’t go out of my way for silo art but if you’re in the area, this is well worth it. One in particular has a yabby on one side and a cockatoo on the other, exceptionally done considering the shape of the silo structure. The same artist has also done a murray cod down near the ferry. Another piece of great art. Worth the detour into town even if you weren’t planning to.See more..

4.0The Herbig Family Tree(27 reviews) - One Big Very Old Gum Tree Points of Interest & Landmarks

4.5The Round House(16 reviews) - Overlooking the first Murray Bridge Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
Very interesting cavalcade of early settlement in Murray Bridge. Initially the residence of the engineer responsible for the first bridge over the Murray. It has been a school house, post office and council offices during its long history. Full of interesting artefacts which for the most part are hands-on and able to be touched and closely examined. Very interesting architectural structure as well, reflecting the initial resident’s quirky style.See more..
5.0St Aloysius Church(16 reviews) - Majestic church in Clare Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
I was quite impressed by the slate roof and sheer size of construction for a small town ! The crypt was a unexpected surprise too. 4.5Karoonda Silo Art(15 reviews) - Beautiful town in the Mallee Points of Interest & Landmarks
Decided to take a weekend overnight in Karoonda to see the night time silo art. We stayed in one of the cabins organised by the local council (one of two so book) and there were a few caravans there as well. Thanks to Jenny at the local council for organising this so easily for us. We dined in the local pub, huge tasty meals but not exactly hot! The silo art during the day was great as was the pioneer village which was free to walk around. The silo art at night (6-9 pm) was really beautiful, lasting 30 minutes and showcasing many different artists and a variety of art styles. They showcase one artist a month but they do show the artists shown during the other months of the year. Thoroughly recommended and taking our granddaughter to see them in the school holidays, we enjoyed them so much. See more..
4.5The Old Mill(15 reviews) - Good view but watch your step Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Old Mill is just off the highway north of Port Lincoln. The view is fine, but the real charm is the Old Mill itself, claimed to be Port Lincoln’s oldest standing building, and never used as a mill! The Mill stands in its own grassy park, and a spiral staircase winds up around it to a viewing platform on the top. Some may find the steps hazardous: quite firm, but see through, and somewhat difficult to tell one step from the next. The view is over the township from a moderate height. A good place to visit.See more..

Have stopped many times and on the long weekend was lucky enough to experience it with my car club, adding that extra special touch to a special place with our classic Aussie Holdens. Always changes throughout the day and seasons. Now a car park has been constructed in front allowing much safer viewing. If you visit Burra or drive the Barrier Highway then you really have to do it.See more..
