4.5Kanku - Breakaways Conservation Park(434 reviews) - A spectacular view of the remnants of an ancient inland sea Spent 2-3 hours National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Deserts
This is a spectacular place to visit when in outback South Australia near Coober Pedy. Whilst it appears to be a long view of nothing it is quite breathtaking when looking at it in person. The history boards tell tales of both local Aboriginal history and history of the dog fence that covers 3 states. The breakaway also is remarkable in the fact that you are standing in an ancient inland sea and this is how it looks today. The drive is easy to access and can be done within an 1.5 hours. Absolutely would recommend to stop by!See more..
5.0Flinders Ranges National Park(257 reviews) - A range of walking options for all fitness types National Parks • Parks
St Mary's peak is the trek we chose. I wouldn't recommend attempting it unless you are not afraid of heights and are reasonably seasoned at climbing over rocks and steep slopes. I really would stress not to take kids, there is one part that requires scaling the side of a rockface from a height. Make sure you bring enough water. We completed it in 9 hours taking the short way up and the long way down including a decent rest at the top. The pictures speak for themselves.See more..
4.5Lincoln National Park(97 reviews) - Mixed feelings National Parks • Beaches • Nature & Wildlife Areas
This park is some 25 km south of Port Lincoln, and situated on a peninsular. There is a small entry fee to be paid at the Visitors Centre in Port Lincoln. I have given this park four stars, and perhaps that needs some explaining. We drove in to Stamford Hill which I climbed, and then had lunch at Surfleet Cove. A park like this is a wonderful asset for conservation purposes, and probably for camping, hiking and fishing. The amenities are excellent and 5* : sealed roads, signage, toilets, and everything well maintained. I enjoyed investigating the coastline at Horse Rock (but where was the horse?), and the hike up Stamford Hill led to good but distant views. But I couldn’t get excited about the endless sameness of the low growing trees and scrub. I felt rather sorry for Matthew Flinders and his crew, landing here and desperately searching for water. So, only 3* from us for enjoyment.See more..
4.5Coffin Bay National Park(95 reviews) - Experience to be remembered National Parks • Beaches • Geologic Formations
My best friend decided it was time to get my 4WD dirty. Coffin Bay National Park seemed the obvious choice, little did I know what was in store. After an easy drive to Yangi Bay the fun started. Lots of sand, plenty of mud holes and a lot of swearing before getting to Point Sir Isaac. I suggest if it is your first time perhaps team up with someone as there are plenty of 4WD enthusiasts along the way. Please be aware of the tide times if doing this trip. Great fun with plenty of Adrenalin. The cost of the Park was $11.00 which can be done online.See more..

4.5Nullarbor National Park(35 reviews) - There's more to see than you think National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
If you’re travelling along the Eyre highway, then technically you don’t transit through most of the park. It only borders the coastal area from 100 kilometres after Yalata and ends a little before Eucla - heading West. From May to October is your best chance to see dozens of Southern right whales and sometimes Humpbacks. (At the head of Bight and also not within the park). From memory, the turnoff is about 30km prior to the Nullarbor roadhouse. It’s quite possible to spot camels herds along the way too, so be wary on the road. With the actual Park being so huge, you can spend as little as as much time as you like here.See more..
4.5Murray River National Park(14 reviews) - Lyrup Flats National Park Spent More than 3 hours National Parks
Come and explore the three separate areas that make up Murray River National Park. Katarapko, Lyrup Flats and Bulyong Island cover more than 13,000 hectares and conserve the verdant Murray wetlands that flow through the park. The Katarapko area features floodplains and several wetlands. The area is an important breeding area for native wildlife, including waterbirds, and is an ideal place for birdwatching. Lyrup Flats encompasses 2,000 hectares along the floodplain on the northern side of the river and provides wonderful opportunities for birdwatching and fishing. You can take your dog for a walk in the Lyrup Flats area of the park providing it is on a lead. Bulyong Island is only accessible by boat. The island is home to a number of wildlife species, such as the western grey kangaroos, emus, pelicans, kingfishers and parrots.See more..
4.5Gawler Ranges National Park(7 reviews) - Highly recommend a day or multiple days here National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Geologic Formations
We spent the whole day driving, hiking, climbing at the Gawler Ranges. Easy enough to navigate your way around. The roads are unpaved but not bad. We weren’t able to go to the Organ pipes as a 4WD was required to take the road there. Saw lots of Emu’s and Kangaroos. Our first stop was Mt Allalone which was better than expected. We climbed the short mountain, took only 20 minutes to reach the top.See more..
Booked a spot in the National Park for 2 nights at 3 mile bend. Great spot right near Lake George. So quiet with just a short drive to Beachport if you need anything. Surprised at the amount of black swans on the lake. Plenty of wildlife around. See more..

4.5Wabma Kadarbu Mound Spring Conservation Park(3 reviews) - Worth the Rough Road Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour National Parks • Hot Springs & Geysers • Waterfalls
The road in is very corrugated but the end result is just amazing. These mound springs are quite visible from a distance rising above the flat desert and being usually covered with green foliage. We first drove out to the furthest on named the Bubbler. There is a short boardwalk up to the top were there is a pool with beautiful clear water bubbling up. What a magic oasis in such a terribly harsh land. This water then flows down into a wetland where there are lots of birds. The other one which is set up to visit is called Blanche Cup. It had a few ducks swimming in the pool at the top. the native grasses living in a micro climate were in flower which was also wonderful.See more..
From the Wattle Rd entrance it used to look like an empty paddock. What it actually was was a native grassland that connected the endangered Peppermint Box grassy woodlands on one side to the Pink Gum Heath on the top of the hills. The bottom of the site will be extensively revegetated by the GWLAP in 2016-18 and will an exciting place to watch evolve over the next twenty years. Lots of wildlife if you stop and look closely. Nice loop walk through the park, and a great picnic bench up the top of the actual Bullocks Hill with views across Lake Alexandrina all the way to the dunes of the Coorong on a clear day. No facilities. No dogs, horses or motorbikes allowed. See more..
Glad we made the effort to visit this beautiful outback salt oasis. You will need a 4x4 and take plenty of water and a shovel just in case as it’s pretty remote. We went in via Andamooka. It’s not signed so get your GPS on in advance. Feels like you are in the middle of nowhere when you get there. Didn’t expect to see any wildlife but we saw a couple of kangaroos just near the edge of the lake. The salt doesn’t look hard but you can walk out on it. Well worth a visit if you are in the area and can get there.See more..
Lovely Lookout at Beatrice Gully, there is a few walks around the area which are shown through sign posts near the main lookouts. This coastal area is a hidden gem with amazing views and beaches! The road is not too bad but would recommend a 4WD, you can camp here also! “Jonique Life” Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.See more..
5.0Scott Conservation Park(1 review) - Visit in spring to see native orchids National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
We stopped off here for a couple of hours of easy bushwalking on our way from Goolwa to the Barossa Valley. Being October, it was the perfect time as there were lots of native orchids and other wildflowers in bloom as well as a good variety of birdlife. Not many other people either. Highly recommended.See more..
