If you are lucky enough to be in the vicinity when there is passage of water vehicles under the bridge it is worth the inconvenience of having road traffic held up. One of very few bridges of this type! See more..

We were the only people here at the time so it was particularly peaceful and very pretty. The bridge is something different but worth a look too. See more..

The so-called Bridge to Nowhere is a curious single lane bridge sitting low over the Port Pirie Creek. Other than fishermen accessing the ‘other side’, which many seem to do, t does provide some alternative and very interesting views of the town, the smelters the shipping and the lower Flinders Ranges. I’ve always been surprised there isn’t any sort of development over there, given the views. See more..

We stumbled upon this bridge accidentally when we followed the signs to a public restroom... the restroom was in a bizarre back street...but so was this beautiful bridge. In 1861a timber bridge with stone abutments was erected here. By 1877 it was unsafe and this steel arch bridge replaced it.Captain Isaac Killicoat declared it open in December 1879 by breaking a bottle of wine over it and naming it the Redruth Bridge. It served until bypassed by a new road in the mid 1980s. The bridge remains open to pedestrian traffic...so if you want to walk over it ... you can. It's a really beautiful bridge. See more..
  5. 4.0 The Railway Bridge (1 review)
    - The route to Broken Hill

    The Railway Bridge image
The railway was extended north from Burra to Hallett in 1876-78. A wooden bridge was constructed to carry the line across Burra Creek. By the turn of the century the wood had begun to deteriorate and it was deemed to need replacement. The changeover to a new steel bridge was accomplished with great finesse in 1909. After careful preparation, the old bridge was torn down after the departure of the Broken Hill express on Saturday night, 27 March. Workmen laboured all through Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night, to have the new bridge open for the Broken Hill express on Monday morning. Nowadays it's a grand bridge against a picturesque landscape and it's worth going to have a look at with it's rich red against the green. Clearly it's no longer in use … so it's simply a historical piece now. See more..
