4.5Cleland Wildlife Park(1.319 reviews) - Memorable day spent at Cleland Park Nature & Wildlife Areas
Being a smaller park we spent more time here than anticipated. Just loved the way that we spent interactive time hand feeding kangaroos, wallabies, emus, bandicoots, native geese and ducks. We booked the koala hold experience which was so inexpensive compared to other zoos/parks that I was able to treat my daughter. I was very impressed with the kiosk/cafe staff managing a busy day with covid protocolsSee more..

4.5Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary(497 reviews) - Great personalised visit, lots to see and learn Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Our group of 4 did both the daytime tour and a dusk tour, on two separate days. We were in small groups and Jim, the owner, gave us a real insight into both the wildlife and the impact of the big fires in 2020. The vegetation is regrowing at a great rate, and there was plenty of wildlife to see. Lots of koalas, Roos, and Tamar Wallabies, and we saw two echidnas up close on the dusk tour. Staying at Western KI cabins gave us close easy access.See more..

4.5Kanku - Breakaways Conservation Park(434 reviews) - A spectacular view of the remnants of an ancient inland sea Spent 2-3 hours National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Deserts
This is a spectacular place to visit when in outback South Australia near Coober Pedy. Whilst it appears to be a long view of nothing it is quite breathtaking when looking at it in person. The history boards tell tales of both local Aboriginal history and history of the dog fence that covers 3 states. The breakaway also is remarkable in the fact that you are standing in an ancient inland sea and this is how it looks today. The drive is easy to access and can be done within an 1.5 hours. Absolutely would recommend to stop by!See more..
4.5Head of Bight(358 reviews) - Friendly staff, fantastic views! A must see Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Lookouts
What a marvellous oasis on the Nullarbor. First up, it offers the first clean toilets for more than 150km! But the real jewel is the visitors centre and the walkways which provide simply stunning views of the bight and the cliff faces. Staff at the visitors centre greet you and the entry fee is modest for the content. The walkways are only a short walking distance and if you're not so fit or ambulant then the turn to the right still provides tremendous views without any steep climbs. No whales were around when we visited but I imagine that whale watching from the vantage points would be a terrific experience. An ice cream at the kiosk capped off the day. Travellers should also note this is just a 20min drive from Nullarbor Roadhouse. We loved this place. Highly recommended.See more..
Excellent caves. Our guide a young guy, was very helpful and gave us a lot of explications. The trip is not very long, the hardest part is the entrance and exit starecas, for the rest is a quite easy visit. not tiring at all. The place is in the middle of a nice wood full of birds. there are some facilities if you want to have lunch there, but they sell just snacks so you better buy the lunch in advance. The caves are beautiful and very interesting. worth the visit especially if you have the island pass for the parks.See more..
Josephine's Gallery is a 'MUST SEE' whilst in Coober Pedy. Wander through the impressive ABORIGINAL ART GALLERY, play a DIDGERIDOO, choose a beautiful OPAL from our extensive range or KISS A KANGAROO. Our passion is raising orphaned kangaroos and we offer you the opportunity to see these amazing creatures up close and maybe even hold a baby. Feeding times daily at 12 noon and 5:30pm. Don't be late!See more..
4.5Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary(217 reviews) - Unique Outback experience Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
My husband and I spent 2 nights in a Mawson lodge room and our package inc 2 nights accommodation, a Ridge Top Tour, a Cosmos night presentation, 2 continental breakfasts and 2 x 2 course dinners with a glass of wine. The package was $1090 which may seem expensive but you have to remember how remote your location is. The accommodation was like a motel room from the 70s with an upgraded bathroom but it did the job. The ridge top tour with our guide Andrew was fantastic! Andrew was so friendly and knowledgeable and a great driver thank goodness! Our meals at dinner in the restaurant were amazing! And the girls that served us..Maddie, Gina and Louisa were so engaging and helpful! Unfortunately we left the cosmos presentation after 15 mins as one of the guests was obviously unwell, so we decided to duck out. The breakfast was enjoyable. I highly recommend this outback experience!See more..

4.0Penguin Centre(121 reviews) - Wonderful experience Nature & Wildlife Areas
We went on a walking tour which lasted almost 2 hours. The guides have a huge amount of information about the island and the animals in the area, not just the penguins. We were able to see a couple of chicks as well as the adults coming onto the land. We enjoyed it very much.See more..
We travelled out here whilst staying at Streaky Bay on advice that this was well worth the drive and it was. It is a dirt road the whole way but that didn't bother us. The road was being graded the day we travelled it and so it looks well maintained. The scenery on the drive in was beautiful. When we arrived we got to see about a dozen seals having a snooze on the beach and the views were breath taking. This was a truly spectacular place to visit, well worth it. Can be quite windy and therefore a little cold so bring a jacket as it is so worth spending time looking and watching from the viewing platform.See more..
4.5Lincoln National Park(97 reviews) - Mixed feelings National Parks • Beaches • Nature & Wildlife Areas
This park is some 25 km south of Port Lincoln, and situated on a peninsular. There is a small entry fee to be paid at the Visitors Centre in Port Lincoln. I have given this park four stars, and perhaps that needs some explaining. We drove in to Stamford Hill which I climbed, and then had lunch at Surfleet Cove. A park like this is a wonderful asset for conservation purposes, and probably for camping, hiking and fishing. The amenities are excellent and 5* : sealed roads, signage, toilets, and everything well maintained. I enjoyed investigating the coastline at Horse Rock (but where was the horse?), and the hike up Stamford Hill led to good but distant views. But I couldn’t get excited about the endless sameness of the low growing trees and scrub. I felt rather sorry for Matthew Flinders and his crew, landing here and desperately searching for water. So, only 3* from us for enjoyment.See more..
5.0Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail(64 reviews) - Five day walk. Spent More than 3 hours National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails

We loved our two night visit. We purchased a package that included Astronomy evening, 4WD Ridge Top Tour, two nights accomodation and both breakfasts and two course dinners. The whole experience was so friendly and breathtaking we have to recommend it. The accomodation is basic but adequate, but don’t go there if you want city comforts: it’s a comfortable place to sleep and the rest of the time there is so much to do around the property your focus is elsewhere. Package is the way to go for extra value. Staff are hardworking and super helpful, setting is unique, food was fantastic as far as we were concerned. The beef fillet was perfection on a plate. We took optional 75min flight with owner Doug to Frome Salt Lake and over Arkaroola and it was the highlight. He is an all-rounder both practically and knowledge. The Ridgetop tour was the other highlight. Remember it’s remote and staff wear many hats to cover everything, it’s part of the appeal.See more..
4.5Deep Creek Conservation Park(49 reviews) - Where have you been all my life? Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Embarrassing to be a South Aussie and never to have visited here before. The Park consists of a series of must see incentives that cannot be completed in a day. Ruins, waterfalls, hikes. Theres hikes of all lengths and severity and it was a popular day for tourists. Take ample provisions. Excellent facilities. We look forward to returning soon.See more..
4.5Nullarbor National Park(35 reviews) - There's more to see than you think National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
If you’re travelling along the Eyre highway, then technically you don’t transit through most of the park. It only borders the coastal area from 100 kilometres after Yalata and ends a little before Eucla - heading West. From May to October is your best chance to see dozens of Southern right whales and sometimes Humpbacks. (At the head of Bight and also not within the park). From memory, the turnoff is about 30km prior to the Nullarbor roadhouse. It’s quite possible to spot camels herds along the way too, so be wary on the road. With the actual Park being so huge, you can spend as little as as much time as you like here.See more..
5.0Mikkira Station(28 reviews) - Wow - Never seen so many Koalas Nature & Wildlife Areas
The first day of the multi-day tour which I have booked with Explore Eyre we visited Mikkira Station. It is home to a colony of wild koalas that live in the manna gum trees. I have never seen so many Koalas in a short time and in the wild. The guide was very good and used to spot Koalas up in the trees and she knew where the favorite places are. We were lucky and could spot in total 19 Koalas. It was Amazing and unforgettable. It's also home of Kangaroos, Emus, sleepy lizards and other wildlife. It was definitely the highlight of the first day. Visiting is only possible by guided tours or with a permit.See more..
4.5Martin's Bend Reserve(27 reviews) - Great place for a walk and see the wetlands. Nature & Wildlife Areas

4.0Nangawooka Flora Reserve(19 reviews) - Nangawooka Flora Reserve Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
My daughter and I really enjoyed our visit. It's small but if your into your Flora and Fauna you will be impressed and could stay quite a while. I took loads of pictures to show my mum who loves gardening back in the UK. We spoke to a chap in the car park who said that he visits 2-3 times a year from Adelaide as it's only an hour away. He says everytime he has been he sees something different to keep his interest. Most things are labelled. I believe the reserve is looked after by local volunteers so well done guys. We were impressed. See more..
5.0Gluepot Reserve(15 reviews) - Jewel in the mallee Nature & Wildlife Areas
I visit Gluepot as often as I can. Run by Birdlife Australia this Reserve is a Bird Watching Conservation area. A magnet for all birders this place is a MUST if you need mallee species. I visit at least 6-10 times a year and thoroughly love it. Be prepared to bring everything you need,eg food, water, spare tyres, etc. There is no phone reception, no shop etc. If camping you need to bring EVERYTHING and be aware, no open flames. There are 3 campsites all with drop toilets. All 3 are great. When you get there you need to stop at the visitor centre and sign in and pay your day or camping fees. The Ranger may came over to say hi as they live next the Visitor Centre. Free maps and birding sheets are available and also read the Whiteboard which is updated daily for current bird sightings. 6km off the main road to Leigh Creek you will find an ideal spot to have a picnic or bbq lunch or just take some time out to commune with nature. Peaceful and tranquil. Aroona Dam supplies the townships of Leigh Creek and Copley with drinking water and was built in 1955. Well worth a visit. Toilets, bbq facilities and tables and chairs available. Access via a dirt road and some care should be taken when driving.See more..
5.0Bowman Park(13 reviews) - Magnificent Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks • Hiking Trails
2km out of Crystal Brook Free Camping, toilets, BBQ,s. Playing oval and nature walks available. Brilliant maintained area for travellers. Caravaners if not greedy and considered other travellers could fit 20 plus I think. Is a donation point to assist in maintenance etc, if you don't drop at least $10 for an overnight stay you shouldn't have stayed. Brilliant and well done to all volunteers. See more..
Great easy walk along the boardwalk. The walk amongst the mangroves is just over 1km in distance. Seating along the way and it is wheelchair accessible. Fishing is allowed and encouraged off the boardwalk. Plenty of bait/ fish stands free to use. The other walk takes you out to the beach. The beach is pristine clean with beautiful white sand. This stroll is 1.5km long also easy. Don’t just walk, stop enjoy the scenery listen to and spot birds. We we lucky to see a ‘fiddler shark’ in the water. Toilets available but were out of order on my visit. Rainwater available.See more..

I think nature would have been amazing to see but think it was way too windy for any one to be hanging around . the rock formations was just incredible to see and the view what you could see anyway was Awesome. just found the driving a wee bit scary one way in one way out needless to say you would find it difficult if anyone was coming the opposite direction ( not a lot of room to pull over ) .See more..

4.5Cuttlefish Boardwalk(8 reviews) - Most amazing thing I’ve ever seen Points of Interest & Landmarks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
On a whim I decided to go to Whyalla dive shop to hire some snorkeling gear to see the cuttlefish. It was so cold on the day, but could not feel the cold in the wet suit provided. A natural phenomenon. So many colours, so many cuttlefish. I’m told that on a sunny day the colours are more vibrant. But even on the overcast day I don’t feel I missed out. Was an amazing experience. Only wish I had an underwater camera with me at the time.See more..
4.5Gawler Ranges National Park(7 reviews) - Highly recommend a day or multiple days here National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Geologic Formations
We spent the whole day driving, hiking, climbing at the Gawler Ranges. Easy enough to navigate your way around. The roads are unpaved but not bad. We weren’t able to go to the Organ pipes as a 4WD was required to take the road there. Saw lots of Emu’s and Kangaroos. Our first stop was Mt Allalone which was better than expected. We climbed the short mountain, took only 20 minutes to reach the top.See more..

4.0Warraweena Conservation Park(6 reviews) - Fantastic camping or accommodation and 4 wheel driving Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Stony at Warraweena is a great bloke and has set this place up fantastically for your enjoyment. Camp at one of the 'secluded' campsites or do what we did and stay at one the old station huts. Cockatoo hut was great because if it's isolated location, fire pit and well maintained long drop toilet (NO SMELL :) Pitch your tent or roll your mattresses out inside the hut for quick easy set up. Mt. Gill was a lovely and easy'ish 4wd, driving through dry creek beds and up to the top 914 metres for wonderful views. Great place run by a greta bloke. Highly recommend :) Simmo and Prue :)See more..

Quite a few of us campers there but all were well spread out. You can have a camp fire there which is lovely. See more..
From the Wattle Rd entrance it used to look like an empty paddock. What it actually was was a native grassland that connected the endangered Peppermint Box grassy woodlands on one side to the Pink Gum Heath on the top of the hills. The bottom of the site will be extensively revegetated by the GWLAP in 2016-18 and will an exciting place to watch evolve over the next twenty years. Lots of wildlife if you stop and look closely. Nice loop walk through the park, and a great picnic bench up the top of the actual Bullocks Hill with views across Lake Alexandrina all the way to the dunes of the Coorong on a clear day. No facilities. No dogs, horses or motorbikes allowed. See more..
