$5 Day Use Fee

Ecola State Park requires paying a $5 Day Use Fee. We came on Tuesday 7/27 around 3 pm. We did not have any issues finding parking. In the parking lot is a machine for you to purchase the $5 ticket. Credit cards are accepted and the Pass is placed on your dash. You can walk around and even see the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse which sits on an island. We also drove to Indian Beach which is part of Ecola State Park.

Best place to capture sunrise above Cannon Beach!
As a professional photographer, this is my favorite place capture the sunrise at Cannon Beach! In my opinion, view from here during sunrise is way more beautiful rather than right from Cannon Beach (however, the sunset might be vice versa). But. You might not always be lucky! Even if the forecast shows nice weather. Sometimes it's too cloudy, sometimes just an open sky, not very attractive of photogenic etc. So, little luck needed :) The daily fee is $5 (always better to have cash with you. do not only rely on credit card payment). If you live in Oregon, better to obtain yearly State Parks pass. Overall, 100% worth to visit. From there you can also hike or drive to Indian Beach, which is also nice.

Great Park and trails. Read before taking the Indian Trail
You have to pay $5 for parking with a credit card. The credit card machine is sensitive, and everyone was having trouble but it does work. We took the Indian Trail. Beware that it is quite a hike through a tough trail that can be slippery in places. At the beginning there’s a stunning view of the beach from a cliff. After that you will see such view only after an hour or more of walking. You can go down to the beach eventually, if you want to. Otherwise, the best view is already within first quarter mile and you can turn back.
