My family and I rented a cabin in Carsons Creek. It was easily accessible to any restaurant and lake entrance. It took 5 mins to Carsons Creek and another 10-15 mins to Stevens Gap. Since the restrictions due to COVID-19 many restaurants close early. Many do offer take out but not much dine in. You will not be bored. Many things to do...axe throwing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing... or just taking in the beautiful views and wildlife.See more..
4.5Robbers Cave State Park(271 reviews) - Loved our extended family getaway! Sunday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM State Parks
Our visit was with extended family, a mini family reunion with mostly adults and one toddler. I’m glad we rented the ADA cabin for my parents, one of which has limited mobility. We also rented another one bedroom cabin, a two bedroom cabin and a duplex. Our two bedroom cabin had very irregular steps that were vintage and beautiful, but could be treacherous for some. We had a fantastic time! We were fortunate to get to eat at the newly opened Foggy Bottom Kitchen - yummo!!See more..
4.5Natural Falls State Park(220 reviews) - Beautiful Campground and State Park Sunday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM State Parks
This is a beautiful Oklahoma State Park with spacious campsites. It is very well maintained with a gorgeous waterfall and dripping springs in a nearby grotto. 7 sites have full hookups, the remainder have 30/50 amp electrical with very good water pressure. The cell service for Verizon runs about 2 - 3 bars, no WiFi. The office has a few staples and souvenirs. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful including the campground hosts. We camped at Natural Falls State Park in a Fifth Wheel. Tip for Campers: Shopping nearby is available at Siloam Springs, Fayetteville, Rogers and Bentonville, Arkansas. Siloam Springs has the Day Spring Christian Card factory and outlet store. You can also take a day trip to historic War Eagle grist mill and Pea Ridge Civil War battlefield.See more..
There is a wonderful primitive campsite just a short hike from the parking lot. A group of friends and I had headed out late one evening and hiked out to it at night, which unfortunately meant we weren’t able to alert the park rangers or register our vehicle. After a beautiful night out in the woods, we hiked back and were confronted by 2 rangers standing around our vehicle. Much to my surprise, they weren’t there to slap ridiculous fines on us or belittle us. They showed genuine concern for our safety, and once they understood the situation, they just let us off without any extra fines. A highly recommend this park if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of life, or a change of pace from the larger state parks that hardly allow camp fires even.See more..
Beautiful little area! There is a nice area for your RV and a tent area. Cute little gift shop with info on the cave. There is a nice covered picnic area for eating and relaxing. The tour was fun and my first time touring a cave without stalactites or stalagmites. Another fun stop on my Oklahoma State parks journey.See more..
4.0Red Rock Canyon Adventure Park(130 reviews) - Absolutely beautiful campground! Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours State Parks
Used to be a state park. now privately ran. We are a full service RV park and campground with great hiking and mountain bike trails.See more..
Lake Thunderbird State Park has some very hilly mountain bike trails, a nice change from the normally flat terrain of central Oklahoma. While the trails were quite sandy, they are decently taken care of and can easily be handled by both new and experienced mountain-bikers. The trails are accessible to hikers and parking is very easy. A great place to spend the day!See more..
We had just left Black Mesa State Park (horrible), so I was apprehensive about spending another two days in a dump. This park seemed like heaven! It was so very nice, clean, and well manicured. We stayed in the Whitetail section with FULL hookups, shade trees, cement patio table, level site, walking trails, ample trash bins and dump stations. It was quiet, except for the occasional train whistle from nearby Woodward. You have a great opportunity there for getting groceries, camping supplies or doing laundry here. We did not use the bath house. There is a nice park office and visitor center and pavilion with interesting facts on the wildlife, birds, and plants in the park that is in tip top shape. We had a great stay and would highly recommend.See more..
We stayed in the Lake House cabin for thanksgiving. It was wonderful! The cabin has three bedrooms - one has a kind bed and sleeper sofa and fireplace, the other 2 have 2 queen beds each. The living room has a fireplace and a sleeper sofa. Full kitchen. Nice deck with grill and fire ring. The cabin had even been decorated with a Christmas tree! The food at Foggy Bottom was really salty though so that was a negative - wish a better restaurant chain had paired up with the state parks. The service was good though. We enjoyed seeing the animals at the nature center. Wish we could’ve seen the Cherokee camping area but it was closed. Overall great experience!See more..
3.5Quartz Mountain State Park(79 reviews) - Really good, EXCEPT! Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM State Parks
The views are beautiful, the grounds are amazing and the room was lovely. We were very disappointed there was no restaurant on site, and the closest one is 30 minutes away. Also, the tub wouldn’t drain and the toilet ran all night, even after shaking the handle. Keep in mind the parking lot is quite a distance from the rooms, which would be fine if there were luggage racks to help carry our things.See more..
4.0Greenleaf State Park(77 reviews) - Pretty park, crappy hiking Sunday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM State Parks

Driving across the panhandle big Oklahoma I stopped at this remarkable site. It is designed for Off Road Vehicles so I imagine it would be noisy on weekends. But on a Thursday morning it was peaceful and sublime. They have an awesome observation deck and informative signs. I just loved it. See more..
4.0Lake Murray State Park(73 reviews) - Very pretty park. State Parks • Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
We visited the park over two days for some fishing and sightseeing. This is a very scenic park and all of the facilities looked to be very nice. We are not into camping anymore so we stayed in Ardmore which is only about a 15 minute drive from the park. The park does not charge an entrance fee but does charge for parking. If you rent a camp space, your parking is included. You can use an online app to prepay your parking in advance and there is no check-in at the park. Very convenient. We did some fishing feom the two fishing piers in the park. I use a mobility scooter and both are easily accessible. Lots of bites and drowned worms but no luck. The park was very peaceful and there were lots of hikers and bikers using the trails. We, along with our fur babies, enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful weather. We will definitely be back.See more..
The Mountain glistens as you approach it. The climb up the stairs is somewhat steep "there are benches along the way" but the last 10ft to the top in is a little rugged as the stairs end. Once at the top the view for miles is beautiful in all directions. The landscape is great for pictures and is very relaxing. As you hike you'll see a lot of native plant life and animals including vultures and lizards. Across the far edge of the trail there is a bench set up for you just take in the views. I really enjoyed it, it's not very difficult to find or climb and is well worth it. I reccomend spending at least 2hrs here. There is vending at the parking lot with permanent portapotty style restrooms if needed. See more..
4.0Keystone State Park(67 reviews) - If you're driving through, stop and check out the dam! State Parks • Parks
Just passing though, we drove across the dam and pulled into the downstream side of the dam. Very impressive! Definitely worth stopping. We walked all the way up near the base of the dam. Lots of large birds including herons and pelicans. Nice restrooms at the parking lot as well. We also turned in at the state park itself to see if there was anything worth seeing on a "drive thru" like ours...but not much to see. Drive up to the Ancient Forest instead if you want views and hikes.See more..
4.5Beavers Bend State Park(64 reviews) - Parking Pass First, then enjoy the park. Sunday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM State Parks
Pay attention to the parking pass signs, and get the pass while you have service or connect to their wifi. Or venture into the park to the Heritage museum BEFORE attempting to park anywhere. I'm almost certain that one of the parking enforcement trucks watched us pull into a spot because it wasn't 5 minutes away from the car when we were getting a ticket. Other than that, we enjoyed our time! We got the pass for the whole day, and drove through the park, taking in all the scenery. Then, we stopped off at the Spillway to checkout the dam and watch people fish in the stream. We hiked down to the edge of the lake and put our feet in the water. We rented a paddle boat for an hour. Lots of fun things to do and see. We spent our entire day here.See more..
4.5Talimena State Park(44 reviews) - Perfect gateway to Ouachita National Forest Spent More than 3 hours State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
Talimena State Park is the perfect gateway to the Ouachita National Forest. The park is a small park focused on providing camping and RV sites next to the National Forest. It serves this purpose to a T. We stayed at campsite #1. While the rent pad itself was not of a sufficient size to accommodate our tent, this site was large enough to offer a flat space to accommodate our six-person tent. Note: many of the tent sites would’ve been too small for our tent. So, if you have a large tent, be sure you have a tent site that will fit your tent. The campground has clean restrooms and showers. The campground is located at the west end of the Ouachita Trail. In fact, campsite #1 is at the trailhead. This was a great access point to a great trail. See more..
We loved Turkey Flats RV Park. The hosts were both very warm and helpful. We had problems with our trike on the Highway and the hosts stopped to check on us along with two or three others. We made it back to camp but it meant a lot that the hosts and others stopped for us. Lake Eufaula is a very beautiful lake. It’s also a huge lake. I’m sure there is plenty more to see but glad our first trip was at Turkey Flats! We enjoyed the short walk to the lake. Mostly shady so that’s nice in July! We also saw three young deer there. Wished I had my phone to catch those neat moments. Great trip!See more..
Clean sandy beach areas at the lake. Lots of areas to throw away trash. Area seems maintained. Day passes were less than $10 for entire car load. Very impressed with how quite it was and how the families social distanced themselves across the sandy beach area. Made for a nice outing!!!See more..
4.0Lake Wister State Park(38 reviews) - Quiet Rustic Getaway Spent More than 3 hours State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Peaceful beautiful surroundings that offer a great getaway in a simple rustic cabin over looking the lake. Pet friendly. Be prepared to furnish your own cookware and dinner placements if you decide to use the stove, microwave, coffeemaker, or toaster. We had to make a quick run to Dollar General for mugs.See more..
4.5Osage Hills State Park(36 reviews) - my favorite camping park State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests
OHSP is lovely. Regardless the time of year, the park is extremely well-kept and clean. The campsites are fairly well-situated and there's enough room in each to spread out and not feel as if the campers next to you are in your space. Water and electric are available at all but the primitive campsites, and the cost is negligible. The area is on top of a rolling hill and heavily wooded. There are bath-houses situated throughout the park. Foe tent camping in an rv site (electric/water) and near a restroom, site 5 is our favorite. We are both elderly and handicapped but not bound to wheelchairs. We camp in instant tents and found site 5 to be the best for our use. It's also one of the prettiest sites in the camp. We have been camping in October, September, April, March and May.....be aware it gets very hot in the summer months...and in late September, the tarantulas wander freely during the day. Just leave them alone and they will happily wander on across the street.See more..
4.0Salt Plains State Park(31 reviews) - Nice place to visit as part of a day trip to the area. State Parks • Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
This is a very nice park! We visited in January as part of day trip to the area. We first visited the park office, which includes a tiny gift shop. The staff was super friendly and super helpful. The lady there gave us lots of info about not only the park, but also the wildlife refuge and the surrounding areas. We drove down to the spillway and walked from the top of the dam all the way down to the bottom of the spillway. Lots of great views and lots of birds. We also drove through the rest of the park and stopped down by the lake where there were great views of the lake and the dam. There were very few people here in January when we visited. But the facilities look great (including the campsites, cabins, playgrounds, and bathrooms). Looks like a great place for family fun when the weather is a bit warmer.See more..
We booked three days because none of the available camping sites had full hookup. Eagle Nest Campground is the nicest of all the ones we visited, but still some sites are difficult to back into. The Park Hosts were available and helped us contact the park office to change our assigned site. They also checked in on us and made sure we were comfortable. Nice fishing lake, nice golf course, but not much else in the area that we discovered.See more..
4.5Foss State Park(28 reviews) - Gorgeous view Sunday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM State Parks
Located on Foss Lake, this state park features a variety of recreational activities include hiking, biking, disc golf, horseback riding, fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking and camping. Facilities include RV campsites, 10 of with full-hookups. All sites offer 30-amp or 50-amp service plus water. RV sites must be reserved online. Big rig sites, shaded sites and 103 tent sites are also available and all can be reserved online. In addition to the tent and RV sites, the park also offers two fully furnished cabins, one of which is ADA compliant, available for reservation online. While Foss offers an equestrian camp featuring a multi-purpose trail for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking, horse rental is not available. 4.5McGee Creek State Park(24 reviews) - Nice weekend away... Spent More than 3 hours State Parks
My family of four (husband, 10 year old daughter and 8 year son) plus two of the kid's friends stayed at the Post Oak Campground over fall break in spot 1. It was right next to the bathroom and across the street from the playground. Although easy to access, there was quite a bit of traffic, I'd recommend grabbing spot 3. The bathrooms and shower were clean. Each spot at Post Oak had a lantern holder, picnic table, and fire pit with grilling grate attached. I was very impressed with the park sidewalks, they were all paved and we were wishing we'd have brought the kids' bikes or scooters. There were electrical outlets in the restroom for a quick phone charge. I did a quick look at the other camp sites, tent hill located 2 miles down the road at potapo was very primitive. Black Jack was also primitive with outhouse type restrooms but within walking distance to the bathroom and showers by Post Oak. We enjoyed the 1.4 mile hike at Potapo, the trailhead is directly across from the tent hill camping sites. It was very easy and all the kids loved it.See more..
We were looking for a place to go to from Dallas which allows us to adhere to social distancing in midst of Covid. Lake Texoma is about an hour and half drive from Dallas and the place is serene. The lake is expansive and has many options from boating, fishing, etc. We loved the small beach by the lake and it was blissful to be close to the water and unwind a little bit by the lake. We stayed till sunset and it was nice.See more..
My three girls and I recently visited and had a great time. The Okmulgee Lake Spillway is an attractive feature. You can climb a path alongside it to the level of the lake. You can also wade in the pool below it. The Oak Leaf Trail, which winds alongside Okmulgee Lake and then up into some hills, is relatively flat and is well maintained. We look forward to returning and hiking again. (There is also a swimming area that appeared popular. It was crowded, so social distancing would be a challenge.) We also visited Dripping Springs Lake. It is primarily a fishing lake. A beautiful spot but not much to do other than fish.See more..
4.0Bernice Area at Grand Lake State Park(22 reviews) - A pleasant getaway Spent More than 3 hours State Parks • Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
The campground is small and wasn't even half full during our visit, which made it extra nice. Camp site was easy to back into. Nice bite of the lake. Bathrooms are as expected at a state park; not great, not terrible. No one checked to confirm our reservation, and it seemed that people freely came and went, mostly to use the restrooms. My only hesitation about returning is the traffic noise from the adjacent highway.See more..
Amazing place to camp. Linda and Jerry the hosts are so helpful. Ralph keeps it safe and patroled. Plenty of shaded sites. Good boat ramp. You'll not be disappointed here. Watched several deer grazing which is a bonus. Very clean bathrooms and showers. We have made several other reservations throughout the summer and fall hereSee more..
3.5Sequoyah Bay State Park(18 reviews) - Another wonderful Oklahoma state park experience. Spent More than 3 hours State Parks
Oklahoma does have its problems and challenges, but it really has some gems in its state park system. My wife and I have visited at least 15 and Sequoyah provided another excellent experience for us. We stayed in one of the cabins, which had a great view of the lake. We put in over 10 miles on the trails, saw a good bit of wildlife, and spent a some time at the lodge as well. It's a beautiful place.See more..
This is the cleanest and most well-maintained Oklahoma state park I have ever seen. During our 4-day stay we were made to feel welcomed by both Bruce and Gino as they went about their daily duties. Both are great ambassadors to the public on behalf of the Oklahoma Wildlife Department and offered us local places to go and things to do as we camped at the park. Thank you Bruce and Gino for a wonderful experience!See more..
We rented the 'big cabin'. It has a beautiful view of the lake, well equipped and quiet. 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, full bathroom and stocked kitchen. Outdoor charcoal grill and fire pit ring just off the back porch. The most loved place for us, was the covered back porch. We enjoyed watching the rain, people canoeing and close enough to the fishing dock to send the kids to fish. We checked out the 3 smaller cabins thru the window, and here's a couple notes. I noticed they had 1 full/queen bed, separate room from 2 twins. Mini fridge and microwave. Bathrooms with cold water showers are right across the street, near swing set. Outdoor grill and fire pit ring nearby. Very quiet and cute geese to watch. There was also a small boat ramp near these cabins to launch a canoe or kayak.See more..
We were camped at site #50 at the Otter Creek camping area. The site was level. There was something wrong with the electric. We were only running at 104 volts instead of 120V. We contacted the Park Manager and they were quick to come out with the maintenance man. Unfortunately, they weren't very knowledgeable on how to fix it. Fortunately my husband is an electrician and assisted them on fixing the problem. Must have been a major issue. I saw a few other camp sites that were having the same problem as usSee more..
A mostly shallow spring/creek. There isn’t much current in the swimming area. There is a small deeper spot near the overflow spillway dam. I could touch but your kids won’t. So non-swimmers beware. It was 95* when we went, but the water was 65* near the spring. It felt great.See more..
The campground was clean, quiet and nicely appointed with disc golf, pavilions, etc. Bath houses were clean and well maintained. We had a great view of the lake. All of the staff were friendly and went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Hope to go back again soon!See more..
We have stayed here twice in the past month. The park is very clean and we enjoyed our time by the campfire. My complaint is the online booking of the park. I feel it shows spots full but never seen people in them. I did call and the lady helped me out and saved the day with the booking. The camp spot we book was red online but it was empty.See more..

5.0Boggy Depot State Park(1 review) - Hot place to visit in June State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
We aren’t campers. We came to see the Butterfield Stage ruts. We didn’t. After talking with the park ranger, we learned the ruts are outside the back fence, however someone has bought that land and is in the process of clearing out the trees etc. Sad. We could tell by the swells of the ground inside the park near where the church had been that probably the road passed there. I met my first Chickasaw Indian there. Kyle. Nice young man. See more..
