Quiet stay with family

We rented the 'big cabin'. It has a beautiful view of the lake, well equipped and quiet. 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, full bathroom and stocked kitchen. Outdoor charcoal grill and fire pit ring just off the back porch. The most loved place for us, was the covered back porch. We enjoyed watching the rain, people canoeing and close enough to the fishing dock to send the kids to fish. We checked out the 3 smaller cabins thru the window, and here's a couple notes. I noticed they had 1 full/queen bed, separate room from 2 twins. Mini fridge and microwave. Bathrooms with cold water showers are right across the street, near swing set. Outdoor grill and fire pit ring nearby. Very quiet and cute geese to watch. There was also a small boat ramp near these cabins to launch a canoe or kayak.

    Time for R & R
Clayton lake state park is a true diamond in the rough. Built in 1935 it still retains its charm of the past. I cannot stress this enough this place is remote and quite, no water sports are allowed on the lake only swimming and boating. If you book through the week there will be days you will have the park to yourself most if not all of the day. After 85 years the park is starting to show some wear, but is in the first stages of getting an update. Still state owned the park is being managed by a local community group and has a new on site manager dedicated to making your stay and enjoyable one. I really enjoyed my time here and plan to go back to see how the improvements are advancing.

    Quiet Fishing
I have stayed 2 times at Clayton Lake State Park once in the Fall tent camping and once in the Spring in their cabins. My wife and I really enjoyed how quiet and clean it was. The Lake is small, only about 90 acres but the fishing on our trips has been very good.
