my favorite camping park

OHSP is lovely. Regardless the time of year, the park is extremely well-kept and clean. The campsites are fairly well-situated and there's enough room in each to spread out and not feel as if the campers next to you are in your space. Water and electric are available at all but the primitive campsites, and the cost is negligible. The area is on top of a rolling hill and heavily wooded. There are bath-houses situated throughout the park. Foe tent camping in an rv site (electric/water) and near a restroom, site 5 is our favorite. We are both elderly and handicapped but not bound to wheelchairs. We camp in instant tents and found site 5 to be the best for our use. It's also one of the prettiest sites in the camp. We have been camping in October, September, April, March and May.....be aware it gets very hot in the summer months...and in late September, the tarantulas wander freely during the day. Just leave them alone and they will happily wander on across the street.

Onward to Osage Hills State Park!
We came to Osage Hills State park the second weekend in October. It’s been a dry season- fortunately there were no burn bans. Unfortunately, the falls aren’t flowing and the creeks are low. We stayed in the Osage tent area. It is on the perimeter of the rv section. We stayed in space “U” which we think may be one of the best, T is also a contender. Our rating is based off of space and more seclusion than others. The bathrooms are what all the other reviews have said. Standard OK STATE PARKS. However, they have added new single stall bathrooms and single stall showers. (Picture attached). They put several sets throughout the park and that is a definite game changer. We also visited the ranger station to get a map. Mostly, because the state park website still pretty much stinks. The people were very nice. Hours posted are 830am-430pm. We went at 10 am and talked to them a bit, bought ice, a state park sticker and learned about the park passport program (collecting stickers at each park for your passport). We noticed they locked up at 130pm and never reopened. That is unfortunate because we wanted to kayak, but couldn’t because they closed. :( Trails were relatively easy to navigate, but they could use more signage. We did the creek loop trail, but it’s so far from the creek you can’t see the water. We also went up to lookout point and the trees are blocking the view. Dang it. We did go to the falls, they were dried up but would be cool to see when flowing. Overall, this is usually a great weather weekend for campion in OK so we had a good time. Small little park, well kept and nice people. Definitely recommend checking it out!

    Very comfortable camping spot!
In site #1 for three days. Received a courtesy call a couple of days prior to arrival to let me know they were shutting off the Watertown individual sites due to weather; they let me know where I could fill my tanks when I arrived. The park was clean and comfortable; restrooms were clean. There's a large tent for group activities that was tr roomy enough for about 25 of us, plus tables for food. The park has some good hiking trails, and it's an easy drive in to town if you need supplies or if you want to explore the shops.
