Wolf Creek Ranch would like to share this setting with you from the back of a horse on a guided trail ride, in a wagon, or from your own two feet. You have room to roam this beautiful country. 3. 5.0 Dirty Laundry Saloon (1 review)
    - The best bar for 500 miles+++
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Bars & Clubs
I have heard people say this cocktail bar is as good as New York, and then say no it is better than New York...Erik and Grace keep everything low key ad manage just about everything themselves, make their own kombucha, use prairies grass to flavout their vodka and those cocktails are top drawer (he used to work in a top London hotel)...unmissable. Round the corner from the Pioneer Woman, and in their own way they are pioneers of the cocktail universe See more..
  4. 5.0 Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve (1 review)
    - See A Part of What Oklahoma once looked like
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
Joseph H. Williams Tallgrass Prairie Preserve image
This is truly a beautiful piece of land that has been preserved and the buffalo herd that they take care of is magnificent. It is a long drive to get into the heart of the preserve but it is worth it when you see the vistas of the tall grass prairie and the buffaloes when you see them living like they once did just roaming free. There are trails for hiking and roads to drive on so that you can take in the beauty and vastness of the preserve. Be aware that whether your walking or driving on the preserve that the buffaloes are roaming free and there wild do not approach get your pictures from a safe distance also there is cattle ranching intermingled with the preserve so there are also cows roaming free you will cross over cattle guard gates that separate the ranges and keep the buffaloes and the cows separate and contained. It is a beautiful place if you are in that part of Oklahoma or going to be going through that area take a drive and see it there is no cost but they take donations and they have a rustic gift shop with volunteers to tell you the history of the preserve. I don't think you will regret it it's a beautiful drive. I'm only going to give you a tease with pics I want you to see the beauty in person. See more..
  5. 4.5 The Pioneer Woman Mercantile (469 reviews)
    - A perfect road trip experience from California!
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops
    The Pioneer Woman Mercantile image
My wife really wanted to visit the PW Mercantile, so on her 50th birthday, we had a road trip from California and had an overnight stopover in Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo then Pawhuska. We stayed at the Frontier Hotel because the PW Boarding House was fully booked but our room was even special because it has the view of the Mercantile Store. The next day we went early to have our breakfast and was seated by the restaurant hostess (she is unpleasant). The food was good and my wife was ready to shop but she finds it a little bit disappointing because she did not meet her expectations to be wowed. While we were shopping, a nice lady, Mona, greeted us and we had a little chat and took some photos with her. Our overall experience was still great and we did enjoy our time at the Merc, the Lodge, P-town, Charlies and Pawhuska. See more..
  6. 4.5 Tallgrass Prairie Preserve (248 reviews)
    - Beautiful and Breathtaking
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
    Tallgrass Prairie Preserve image
This was such a cool experience! There are literally thousands upon thousands of bison that are just chilling by the road. They are peaceful and intimidating at the same time. We got lots of amazing pictures and were generally awestruck by the landscape and the bison. I will say it's not an all-day activity, we went right before sunset and saw a ton of bison but once we got our pictures it was pretty much done. Honestly, I'm amazed it's free. Highly recommend, especially if you're new to Oklahoma. See more..
  7. 4.5 Osage Tribal Museum, Library and Archives (51 reviews)
    - Small but rewarding, and see the campus
    Libraries • History Museums
Osage Tribal Museum, Library and Archives image
The museum is mostly in one main room and then a room behind it. Be sure to go into the latter because the collection of drums there is amazing. We especially liked the ones that have traditional tribal art on one side and modern art on the other. The whole Osage Nation Campus that it's on is worth looking around at, including the modern law buildings and the veterans memorial with the feather sculpture. See more..
  8. 4.5 Osage Hills State Park (36 reviews)
    - my favorite camping park
State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests
    Osage Hills State Park image
OHSP is lovely. Regardless the time of year, the park is extremely well-kept and clean. The campsites are fairly well-situated and there's enough room in each to spread out and not feel as if the campers next to you are in your space. Water and electric are available at all but the primitive campsites, and the cost is negligible. The area is on top of a rolling hill and heavily wooded. There are bath-houses situated throughout the park. Foe tent camping in an rv site (electric/water) and near a restroom, site 5 is our favorite. We are both elderly and handicapped but not bound to wheelchairs. We camp in instant tents and found site 5 to be the best for our use. It's also one of the prettiest sites in the camp. We have been camping in October, September, April, March and May.....be aware it gets very hot in the summer months...and in late September, the tarantulas wander freely during the day. Just leave them alone and they will happily wander on across the street. See more..

Hidden GEM in a great little gem.... right in the center of a beautiful downtown village. If you're near there and want to experience the Piorneer Women enterprises (the ice cream store ROCKS) don't forget this store. This store is woman owned, well laid out and thoughtful. Beautiful accessories (especially silk scarves) and very nice, fashionable clothes. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Never Pushy. Upbeat and positive. Worth the time See more..

    The Buckin' Flamingo image
I live 15 minutes from this store and go in there as often as I can. It’s full of items you can’t find anywhere else. I’ve never had a problem with a single member of their staff and prefer the low key workers as opposed to the ones following me around the store asking me questions. This is also the place to go for white elephant gifts. I’m heading there now! See more..

    - Very well done......

This museum is relatively small, but very well done. So much history and much of it from the last 100 years, so everyone can relate to some of it. Staff was very friendly and informative, but gave time for us to browse at our leisure. They did an excellent job with the local history. Plan to spend a couple of hours here to get the full experience. See more..

After all the hoopla at the Mercantile, cross the street and work your way down, stopping at galleries, shops and stores that are full of atiques, vintiques, western clothing, Native American art and more. Just down a ways you will come to the French Nest, their Christmas decor and geegaws were great, the artwork, paint and jewelry were awesomel Great throw pillows, hand made rugs, and more. One of the oldest operating theaters in Oklahoma, Pawhuska’s Constantine Theater offers a lively performing arts roster and a fascinating legacy. The building first functioned as The Hotel Pawhuska in the 1880s. In 1911, C.C. Constantine transformed the site into a premier opera house, remodeling the stage in Greek Revival Style.
