Alabaster Caverns State Park, Oklahoma, United States

Fun tour in a nice area.

Beautiful little area! There is a nice area for your RV and a tent area. Cute little gift shop with info on the cave. There is a nice covered picnic area for eating and relaxing. The tour was fun and my first time touring a cave without stalactites or stalagmites. Another fun stop on my Oklahoma State parks journey.

    Alabaster Cavern Tour
Park was pretty, nice playground seems like a decent place to camp. We just stopped by for the cave tour, which was fun. However due to a cave-in, we couldn’t see the whole cave including the black alabaster. For the $10 each price, the tour seemed a little lackluster as you go out the way you came and is cut about half a mile short. Neat cave, lots of bats, worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

Cave tour, wild caving, bat watch, and camping
Although this is a tiny park, there is more than meets the eye because so much is below the surface. We went wild caving on 7-10. Owl Cave is fairly easy, at least for short people, who are in good shape. Then we went to Ice Stalactite Cave. It was definitely harder; we did not complete. I wanted to go to Hoe Down Cave, but we were out of time. We also were able to see the bats at Selman Cave fly out at dusk. This is only available in July, and you must apply for a ticket by June 1. Definitely a unique, educational experience. We also camped for 2 nights in the GC campground. Sites very close together and no bathroom of any sort. In November, we did the official tour, and had an amazing tour guide. Bats hibernate in there during the winter, so we were able to see lots of sleeping bats. There is also some neat hiking, which we did on our November trip.
