Fishing and site seeing
Fished and then drove around the Lake as much as possible. The Lake/River is a world class fishery. Windy all weekend and the water was silty from the heavy rain and rushing tributaries. We were very happy and satisfied with our lodging at the State Park and Lodge/ Marina in a 2 bedroom fisherman’s cabin. Basic lodging and very clean and well kept inside and out. Complete with fireplace and outside electrical plug ins for boats.Plenty of room to park vehicle and boat with trailer. You receive free boat launching card for the length of your stay. Beds were well used but ok, Fridge ,stove , furniture and TV were very good. Complete housewares except a broom? Marina is great and grill is reasonable. There’s also a Marina store which well stocked an a touch pricey. Gas is marked up. A tour of the town showed us lots of Southern Style plantation Mansions, the southern version of Urban sprawl and friendly people. Just about every service you need in terms of shopping and restaurants. There are two well known fishing lure manufacturers in the area and the drive there for a visit is worth the trip. Crossing the River Bridge going East puts you in the great State of Georgia and near the US Army Infantry Museum and Fort Benning, Home of the Airborne!!! Don’t miss the tour of this facility. Tour Ft. Benning. I lost my money clip in Eufaula, money, ID, everything. I searched for 3 days and gave up only to travel home and answer repeated phone calls from an honest Eufaula resident who tracked me down through Facebook and gave me my clip back complete with contents. I could not Thank this gentleman enough.A reward was given. I recommend visiting the Super Walmart there. The place is huge ,well stocked with friendly employees. I can’t fail to mention excellent dining at the lodge at the State Park as well as reasonable lodging of 4 different type lodging opportunities ,lakefront cabins, fishermen’s cabins, lodge rooms or hotel type, and apartments in a wooded area. Great lodge staff. I am planning a return trip to the area soon.

Lovely area
When we arrived our site was already inhabited. We got a hold of the wonderful park ranger who fixed everything. WE had to wait an hour but he was just a great guy and tried really hard to move the other party along. Our site was very pretty and quite. It was a nice 2 days of camping though hot!
