Disney/Little Blue Area at Grand Lake State Park, Oklahoma, United States

Cool waters, hot day!

A mostly shallow spring/creek. There isn’t much current in the swimming area. There is a small deeper spot near the overflow spillway dam. I could touch but your kids won’t. So non-swimmers beware. It was 95* when we went, but the water was 65* near the spring. It felt great.

    First trip
Refreshing, cold water and nice scenery. Mostly shallow with one area that looked to be about five feet deep. All-rock bottom. Sturdy water shoes are a must. Avoid flip flops, and don't go barefoot--you will be in pain. This is a very rustic park with very few amenities--a few picnic tables and grills. Porta-potty bathrooms. That's it. There is no convenient way to get from the parking area to the water. There only are a few narrow, rocky, dirt paths downhill. There is one area where folks tend to congregate, but if you wade further, there are quieter spaces. Bring lightweight camp chairs to set in the shallow water. There is virtually no shore, and what shore there is is all rock. You will also want some space because we ended up next to a family that chain smoked cigarettes and weed. They dropped cigarette butts in the water. At least their small children got some fresh air. Thankfully, others seemed more respectful to the environment. We will return, and a weekday is likely to be more tranquil. Definitely plan to arrive in the morning if it's a weekend.

    So Much Fun
Its a great area to bring the kids to play in the water. Sit your lawn chairs in the water and watch the kids play. We took our granddaughter several times this summer. Papa walked her thru the shallow area which came up to her knees. The little bitty fishies that are in the water swim all around your feet. When the others at the park are respectful, everything is great but every now and then, there are people who think the park is open for just them. Hate to recommend this place because it means more people will go, but it is a great place, especially for small kids.
