    - Recommended - very informative
Monday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center image
This is a small museum so don't expect much, but what is offered is well worth the visit to the free museum. The gentleman who greeted us took our temperatures and told us some things of the Comanche Nation - from the past and from today. Very informative! Thank you! We went into the museum and were told not to take pictures of the artwork on the walls. So, we didn't take pictures inside. Being a small museum, we were in and out in about 20 minutes. And I just had to get two of the "coins" that were imprinted with Comanche Nation pictures. We went to the gift shop and spent that much time there looking around and purchasing some things. Everyone there was very nice and I'd recommend this museum to anyone. Just next door is the Museum of the Great Plains, so you can make a long afteroon visiting the two. See more..

    - Toys! Toys! Toys! And more toys!
Monday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
Toy and Action Figure Museum image
The museum got its start in 2000 during a citywide process called VISION 2010. In a series of meetings, local citizens came together and identified goals they would like the community to reach in the next ten years. Many things were discussed. Among them the town wanted unique attractions that would help to make Pauls Valley a destination city. With the help of local artist and toy designer (and collector) Kevin Stark, a board was formed to start working on the world’ s first museum devoted to the art and sculpting of action figures! The museum acquired its 501(c)3 nonprofit status and the group began researching and creating the plans for a first – class facility in the heart of downtown Pauls Valley. It took the group five years to put everything together and the doors opened on October 15, 2005.Since that time the museum has had visitors from every state in the union and over 40 foreign countries and has helped serve as an economic catalyst for the downtown area. With group tours from state wide public and private schools, senior citizen groups and various tourist groups, not to mention curious travelers, the museum has seen over 50,000 visitors since it opened its doors. An accredited museum, The Toy & Action Figure Museum has won several awards, including the Redbud Award for Best New Tourist Attraction in the state for 2006 at the Oklahoma Governor’ s Conference on Tourism. Fort Reno is a great place to visit. It has a lot of historic buildings. Vintage Sewing Center And Museum image
I found this museum on Trip Advisor and read a few reviews that said others spent a couple hours here. So did we. I enjoyed talking with the owner. He is knowledgeable and his excitement to share about the machines makes it fun. My favorite part is that my kids were able to try a variety of sewing machines as well as a few other STEM experiences. They made key chains and designs for T-shirts and it was free for them. My son said he learned that sewing isn't boring, and it felt like it was his birthday! There are also classes they can participate in to grow in their creative abilities so we will be back, for sure! 21. 4.5 Old Town Museum (70 reviews)
    - Fun for history buffs
    Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
    Old Town Museum image
The combination of museums here makes for a nice stop. One admission fee pays to visit all but there's nothing stopping you from wandering around Old Town. In fact, we accidentally did that first because there's a lack of signage to see go to this specific part and pay before you wander around. Despite not being able to go inside the buildings of Old Town, (mostly just peer through windows), I really liked it. Though I was only part-way through a Route 66 trip, it felt like the town represented the entire trip, even though that's not what it's supposed to be. It just felt symbolic and fitting. The portion specifically devoted to Route 66 is fun too and offers a couple of scenes to imagine different eras and stops. (I marked travelled as solo because there's no family option w/o children. Some of us drive around our senior parents. That's family last time I checked.) See more..

We really enjoyed the museum as well as the tour of the mansion and grounds. We didn't have to pay because of our Oklahoma Historical Society membership, but the prices didn't seem prohibitive. The tour guide was very kind and patient with little people. The grounds are beautiful Oklahoma prairie and have lots of places for kids to run around, climb and play. The museum has a kids' area we really enjoyed and could have stayed there for hours. It has puzzles, books, little toys, chairs, and saddles. After our tour and museum time we drove around the property and enjoyed seeing the bison and long horns. Well worth our trip there. See more..

A very informative lady took us into the museum and quickly explained how it was laid out and also described how this region was also part of the Greer County that Texas claimed. It was a beautiful, large museum. It had a section on the local Indians. Another on the cattle drives which included a Goodnight chuck wagon. Terrific museum. Has virtually all of his possessions at the time of his death, including the suitcase that hit him in the head and caused his death. Very nice documentary on his life, just ask them to start the movie when you're ready to watch it. We recommend it. See more..

The Ben Johnson museum was by far one of my favorite places this weekend. It was very informative and personable. The lady at the front desk actually knew him and stories about him. Those are the ones you don’t usually get to hear. See more..

Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce needs to uncover this little gem for people to come and enjoy. The museum is very complete with exhibits both inside and the grounds in the back. There's a school house, cabin, bank, church and another outbuilding - all very complete with contents appropriate to the period they represent. The interior exhibits are likewise very complete and well explained with easy to read information. Across the street is Governor Seay's Mansion. Unique and lovely home also very complete. Sad to see the deterioration in the eaves outside on the porch area, but I'm sure it's difficult to raise funds for such repairs. This was an easy day trip from OKC to Kingfisher and a beautiful drive. Took Highway 33 there and Highway 3 back. Beautiful! See more..

We were the only people there and got a personal tour by Mr. Simpson aka Smoky Lane. He was a wealth of information about the western movies, history and Enid. Lots of very interesting history and a story about when John Wilkes Booth was supposedly in Enid, died there and was mummified. We enjoyed seeing the movie sets which are used in actual movies. Many interesting old items and artifacts. There is a huge doll collection with over 1,800 dolls. See more..

Three Rivers Museum of Muskogee, Ok, Inc. image
Visited the Three Rivers Museum in March 2013 when I was in town for a funeral. One of the docents / curators was kind enough to give a personal guided tour. The museum displays were undergoing some renovation (workers were building a cut-away display for an interior house display. Most of the other displays have new, informative descriptions typed up. This is a cool museum if you want a brief history of the Three Rivers region. Displays about the plains tribes, the white settlers, the growth of Muskogee, the bad tornadoes in the 1940s are brought to life with photos and artifacts. There is a small gift shop, and the museum is trying to make more displays interactive and hands-on. If you go, ask for Karen: she is a walking encyclopedia of local history. See more..
