Perfect gateway to Ouachita National Forest
Talimena State Park is the perfect gateway to the Ouachita National Forest. The park is a small park focused on providing camping and RV sites next to the National Forest. It serves this purpose to a T. We stayed at campsite #1. While the rent pad itself was not of a sufficient size to accommodate our tent, this site was large enough to offer a flat space to accommodate our six-person tent. Note: many of the tent sites would’ve been too small for our tent. So, if you have a large tent, be sure you have a tent site that will fit your tent. The campground has clean restrooms and showers. The campground is located at the west end of the Ouachita Trail. In fact, campsite #1 is at the trailhead. This was a great access point to a great trail.

Great customer service
The best part of the one night stay was the incredible service by the camp host. I have never camped anywhere where the camp host was so helpful. She bent over backwards in each situation to make a one night stay the best it could be. Her two sons were also helpful and a pleasure.

Great motorcycle riding
We rode as a group thru the mountains here and had a great time. Nice weather and beautiful vistas. Spent some time watching all the paragliders soar. Wilhamina had been updated since I was there last. Good spot for a rest and a bite to eat.
