This was a wonderful tour. The water was dead calm in most places, so absolutely ideal conditions for whale watching. The vessel was amazing, with lots of vantage points to see the sights. The captain was committed to making sure we had the best possible chance to see whales, and went out of his way to explore the area in search of them. The whole crew made every effort to make sure that we were comfortable and were enjoying ourselves. Wilma was extremely knowledgeable and took extra steps to ensure that everyone could hear what she was saying. Fantastic day trip to see the grizzly bears in the wild. Boat was very comfortable and spacious so that everyone got great views of the bears. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable.....would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Prince Rupert. I took my staff from Carte Diem - Seize The Souvlaki for a Staff Appreciation treat and we all had an amazing time. From gearing up, the bus ride to the Dakota safety instructions that were both entertaining and frightful :) we were ready to begin our journey down the river. Zach, our guide, made us feel safe, comfortable, and then insanely paddling through the rapids. It was epic! Thanks to Chris, Taryn and Korbin for a wonderful dog sled tour on Sunday 19th. This should be on everyone’s bucket list! The team picked us up on time, introduced us to the dogs and explained in detail the roles of each dog, how they are cared for etc. We went on the longer tour up to the lake, the scenery was spectacular and each sled driver answered our many questions along the way, I recommend this tour option. The highlight was feeding the dogs at the end. They were friendly and liked being patted after their hard work. We also got to see the 5 puppies, super cute! We had an incredible experience. The staff were absolutely delightful and very professional and Spirit of the West did so much to make the trip special. Gifts and Prosecco to two people celebrating their joint 60th, lovely appetizer platters when we returned from our day of kayaking right down to hot water bottles to take to bed :) Aleah was a great cook and Alex and Thomas wonderful guides. Alex was up long before daylight with her flashlight on our last day to bring us a whole selection of marine life for a talk she gave over breakfast. There was not a detail left out. We had a wonderful 4 days at the end of August. Their website describing the trip is excellent as it tells you exactly what you are going to get in terms of accommodation and potential physical challenges, so there were no surprises Jamie was a terrific guide, an excellent helmsman, and the boat felt incredibly safe. We lucked into 4 days of really good weather so cannot say whether 4 days of rain (or even 1, for that matter) would have been made the trip less interesting and enjoyable. The staff on board were all very friendly and told the guests all about the history of the lake, islands and surrounding area. We got in line even earlier than the instructions stated so that we could get the best seats on the outside top area. There are only about 18 seats upstairs. We were able to get right at the front. It was a very relaxing 2 hour cruise until we got within 1/2 hour of coming back. The wind picked up and was really crazy. There is a small menu of food and drinks offered at an additional charge, including hot dogs and burgers.See more..

We just had a wonderful experience in Lytton, BC with the crew from Hyak Wilderness Adventures. A five (plus) hour of pure entertainment and adrenaline rush of White Water Rafting. Can highly recommend hopping on a boat during a heatwave to cool down!! On our incredible Zodiac tour we were lucky enough to spot (and smell) humpback whales, TWO transient orca pods, a floating napping sealion(!!) and of course the beautiful natural scenery. Jen is a very experienced, knowledgeable and respectful guide. She is also clearly passionate about the well-being of these beautiful sea-creatures, being mindful of their space and future. We were impressed to hear that part the fee went towards community projects on Quadra Island that help to restore and maintain ecological integrity. All of her gear is in great condition (loved the cosy brand new floater suits) and we felt very safe and well looked after. We took the full day Rainbow Falls boat excursion. What a day, saw so much natural beauty. The trip is worth the fee and includes lunch...which they did a great job with treats for kids and families. Smores on the fire plus cake with whipped cream. During the stop halfway, we hiked, ate and then could swim, canoe, kayak etc. Our group was only 12ppl. My husband and I and our three x12 year old kids all LOVED this tour. We opted for the longer three hour tour which is definitely pricey but when you see the set-up and number of dogs involved you can understand why. Our guides Mandy and Taylor were both lovely and the dogs were gorgeous, friendly and clearly very well loved and cared for. Taylor was very accommodating in letting our kids tandem drive with her and they loved being able to be more than just passengers for the ride. Booked the Bear Raft River Drift with Kynoch. Was in contact with Fraser via email and he was very prompt with his replies and was very helpful to get us on a Raft Drift. We went on the late afternoon and within the first 10mins we saw a bear and we kept seeing them. Fraser knew where they were and was very patient to wait for the bears to come to us. Fraser has a ton of knowledge of bear behaviors, history, stories and community interactions with the bears. He was very educational which was some of the best part of the trip. I really appreciated Frasers respect for the bears and giving them their space and his confidence in being so close to the bears on the river. I had total trust in him navigating us through the river. I highly recommend this company and when I'm back in Bella Coola again I will do the Raft Drift again.See more..

We recently had the opportunity to experience an 8 day adventure exploring the Great Bear Rainforest and the coastal fjords of BC’s coast. Captain Peter (Ragnar) and the Seawolf were the base of our operations as we moved from secluded bay to secluded bay. From humpbacks and dolphins, to fishing for dinner, to lunch on a distant beach every day was a new adventure. Peter’s calm demeanor and extensive sea knowledge made this adventure a must repeat as there is so much more to explore. Being new to sailing and helming the boat with full sails was an experience we won’t soon forget. Highly recommend extending the base trip (6 days) to 8 so that you have time in the morning to relax and beachcomb more before heading to the next day’s anchorage. Till next time See more..

My family had a great day on the water with Daniel. You can tell this was a guy who loves his job and knows his stuff. This is much more than just a ‘look over there’ tour as he had pictures and stories of what we were seeing. All 11 passengers felt like they were out for a day on the water with family rather than a guide we met hours before. The hot springs was worth visiting, the waterfall was spectacular, and the hike to the Big Cedar was eventful with a bear on the trail. To top it off, a grilled salmon lunch may have been the most scenic meal we’ve ever had. The only downside may have been Daniel telling my 3 boys to eat whatever they wanted as I’m fairly certain they are their weight in snacks. We spent a magical 7 days with Yoho Adventures on the Cariboo Chilcontin Coast trip in beautiful British Colombia this past August and cannot say enough wonderful things about the whole experience. Every moment of the trip far succeed our expectations -- the scenery, the wildlife, the fresh air, .. and the food!!! Cristina and Ben go over the top -- there is no detail they havent thought of. They take you along the road less travelled so you dont feel like you're on yet another tourist trip and are so knowledgeable about all of their surroundings. Truly a unique experience, one we will forever remember. The Wildlife Hike was really beautiful. Hagen is such a nice guide, we felt very safe and were overwhelmed by the stunning nature.
