Great place to gain insight of the history around this place/area. I first came to Whistler in 1976 when there was only a little tin box gondola and Blackcomb didn't exist. Just the Creekside base with gravel parking lots. Had to take a T-Bar for the last leg to the summit. This museum will give you great insight into how the valley and ski area came into existence. +++ See more..
  13. 4.5 Prince George Railway Museum (126 reviews)
    - Missing more of the Social Element
Friday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
    Prince George Railway Museum image
We had a wonderful time walking around the various displays and structures at this museum. Due to Covid, some of the displays were locked up. But what we saw did provide us new insights in the railways that operated in the area. It was also "cool" to walk inside a beehive burner. What would make this museum better is if they could provide more stories of people who were involved in the building and running of the railways and those who worked long hours in the lumber industry. This was done to a certain extent with the Ukrainians who worked in the railway. My wife and I would want to see more of this. See more..

    Lillooet Museum image
We were in Lillooet on Canada Day so the Museum and Visitor Centre was buzzing. The park adjacent to the centre had food and activity stalls. The staff at the visitor centre were very friendly and straight away gave us a Canadian flag as part of the celebration. For a small donation we took a look at the museum which was a great collection of bits and pieces of the early days in the area. They had a great display of old tools and newspapers of earlier times. The building itself was also interesting as it was the former Anglican church. See more..

  19. 4.5 Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre (70 reviews)
    - STUNNING COLLECTION!
    Speciality Museums
    Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre image
The Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre and Museum in Cape Mudge was our main reason for visiting Quadra Island and I can't say enough about their stunning collection of ancient masks and sacred regalia. Several weeks ago we visited the U'mista Museum in Alert Bay where the other half of the repatriated collection is stored, and both museums are wonderful. I really enjoyed the displays and reading about the history of the people and the area. Photographs inside are strictly prohibited, but I was permitted to take a couple of photos of their gift shop. It is well stocked and you'll have no problems finding a souvenir. There are also many photo-ops outside. An unexpected bonus was a flat fee of $5 for off-season visitors, yet another reason to tour when the crowds are small. Bring a picnic because right across the street is a new rest area complete with shelter, totems, petroglyphs, local vegetation and a waterfront location. Highly recommended you visit both locations. Cheers, Paul See more..

What a wonderful experience. It’s possibly the smallest museum I’ve been in, but the enthusiastic volunteer who explained the exhibits was extremely informative and knowledgable. The restored fire truck looks like it Wes built yesterday, but when you see the state in which it was found, you realise just how much work it has taken to restore it to the beautiful exhibit it is today. I would gladly recommend a visit. See more..

    BC Farm Museum image
We are now open as of April 1st, 2021, following COVID-19 safety guidelines. Something of interest for every age. Kids love our Scavenger Hunt, rope making, tomato and egg sorting demonstrations. Visitors learn how people lived without electricity and can see first-hand several wooden ice boxes (early refrigerators), see early windmills that pump water and produce light…. nearing 100 years old and still running! Thanks to our dedicated Volunteers. For the middle aged and senior visitors our artifacts bring back many memories of how folks lived. Remembering what life was like as a kid, seeing the transition from horse power to engines. The collection of artifacts by the Association has evolved from focusing on farming equipment only, to including historical artifacts depicting all aspects of pioneer life. The Museum collection has grown to over 5,600 historical artifacts of farming equipment and pioneer life in British Columbia, on display in two buildings and an outside exhibit area. See more..

The Boundary Museum Society was established in 1958, and incorporated in 1980. From its inception until 2009, the Boundary Museum Society operated out of the downtown core of Grand Forks, BC. In 2009, the Boundary Museum moved into the former Fructova School, now called the Fructova Heritage Site. The Fructova Heritage Site was built by the Christian Communities of Universal Brotherhood (CCUB) Doukhobors in 1929 as a facility to teach English and academics to the Doukhobor children of the Boundary area. The school was in use until the late 1940's. The Boundary Museum currently features five larger exhibits - the Doukhobors, a schoolroom, local wildlife & environment, historic store in addition to several smaller exhibits on First Peoples, China town in Grand Forks, forestry, sports, and music. Exhibits change from time to time. You will also see a Doukhobor bread oven and perhaps be able to participate in bread making or other activities in the summer months. See more..

As part of our geotourism adventure, we visited the Nicola Valley Museum and Archives in Merritt, British Columbia. Although the Museum was closed due to covid, we searched for and found a nearby geocache called "Jesus Garcia". We learned that he helped form the transportation system that made the gold rush possible in this area. Before leaving the area, we admired the colorful murals on the outside wall of the Museum and Archives building. See more..
