  1. 4.5 Cathedral Grove (1.019 reviews)
    - Just WOW!
    Forests
    Cathedral Grove image
We visited Cathedral Grove last weekend ... a snowy experience in an area that we understand does not typically get a lot of snow. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful experience. The paths were clearly marked (even in the snow). We visited after lunch on a Sunday and we likely lucked out as others avoided the wet/cold conditions. Such cool, mossy trees along all of the paths and then you come to the giant! Good photography opportunities. Limited parking if you visit during high time I am sure. See more..

  4. 4.5 Green Timbers Urban Forest (115 reviews)
    - Lovely setting for a brisk run or walk

    Green Timbers Urban Forest image
I'm visiting from the U.S. and, during my stay, I've driven past Green Timbers several times and wondered what it looked like inside this huge forest-like park. This morning, I had an opening in my schedule, so I parked just inside the entrance on 100th. Parking was plentiful and free. There is a trail map posted at the park's entrance. To orient myself, I walked an easy trail (<1 mile) around the lake and enjoyed some breathtaking views. I returned to my car, took off my winter coat, stretched, and then re-entered the park to run the first part of the trail, then continued south to 96th. After running eastward on 96th, I discovered a winding, narrow trail that led back into the park and found my way back to the lake and, eventually, the parking lot. How lucky Surrey residents are to have this beautiful oasis nearby! See more..

Very well maintained, any attire and shoes is fine. Broken into 4 sections so you can do a little or a lot. About 6,000 steps to the top and back. Mostly stairs, pavement or gravel path. Nothing steep but a good workout if you go at a good clip. Nice view from the top as well. See more..

Interesting interpretive signage at the start of the trails, and well laid out maps available as well. Great way to spend a couple of hours. See more..

    - The infamous Teapot is getting a makeover!

    Teapot Mountain image
Teapot has always been an amazing place, and one of my personal favorites while living in our proud community of Prince George. ROCK ED Backcountry is very excited to be a part of the rehabilitation project on the mountain and users can look forward to improved maintenance of the trails, new benches, and upgraded parking area, new signs and much much more. Teapot Mountain is also a recreation site, managed by Rec Sites and Trails BC. In order to keep Teapot Mtn sustainable for years to come, the teapots were needed to be removed for many reasons. With the much needed work required for this site, teapots are best left at home so they stay out of the work zone. The volunteers will definitely appreciate your cooperation! See more..
  12. 4.5 Forests for the World (4 reviews)
    - Great park and hiking area in summer or winter

    Forests for the World image
One of the best places to walk in Prince George. A great network of trails and a beautiful stocked lake you can fish and swim in as well. The park is very well maintained and clean largely in part because people are respectable when they are there. There are loads of trash bins and a picnic area with a covered section and picnic tables right by the lake, so it's a great spot to have lunch. I've been walking and fishing here in both winter and in summer and the trails are maintained year-round. There are several trails depending on your physical ability and how long you want to spend here. If you're traveling to Prince George this would be a great place to spend an afternoon. See more..

Four of us spent a nice morning hiking up the road/trail here. Pretty constant ups but not too steep. Good views as we climbed and only one other person seen the whole outing. One comment: we could not find any obvious signs telling us we were in the right place. Surely this is worth properly marking. See more..
