But there was more inside to see, paintings, carvings, pottery etc. And the owner and artist Lydia was very sweet and friendly to take her time to answer our questions and tell the stories about the collections there Loved the carved stick that she did! Fortunately we were with friends who knew of this gem. Im sure the locals are aware of it, but visitors may not be. Gather hasn't been open very long so I'm delighted to sing its praises. The interior is homely. For those of you who have read Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series, it reminds me of the bistro always mentioned in these books. The service is so happy and enthusiastic. The menu is interesting with something for everyone. As we are not big eaters, the server allowed we two couples to share the special of soup and sandwich. The soup was a most delicious chowder and the sandwich on home made bread with portobello mushroom, cheese and pesto. Everything was just delicious. The muffins coming out of the kitchen looked divine. There is live music provided in the evening. I can see this place really swinging in wintertime. They have a quite decent selection of non-fiction books: on mostly BC-related topics, and always a selection of the latest covering Sasquatch ("Bigfoot") and related topics -- clothing: a very good selection of high-quality, printed t-shirts and sweatshirts, in sizes ranging from baby to adult, designs and colours, from 'fun' to quite beautiful -- and other gifts and souvenirs: keepsakes, tourist, and other 'stuff & such'.
