This large sandbar and former industrial site is now a posh, artsy neighborhood filled with quaint shops, eateries, breweries, and year-round arts and cultural festivals. Located in False Creek, it's famous for the Granville Island Public Market where you can get fresh produce, gourmet food, and artisanal handicrafts. Visit during summer when the island is exceptionally bustling with outdoor entertainment acts, or during the holidays for twinkling festive lights. You can get to Granville Island by car by crossing the Granville Bridge. Otherwise, you can also take a scenic ferry ride, or a walking or bike tour of the waterfront. – Tripadvisor See more..
  2. 4.0 Barnston Island (49 reviews)
    - Barnston Bare Beach

The boat trip across is short but interesting. There is a ring road around the island. Go left from the boat lately because of the Covid 19. The far east end which looks toward the golden ears bridge is the nude beach as per city of Vancouver since 2009. I was there 3 times lately for about 3 hours each time and only once saw one person. There is a sandy beach and nothing else. Carry in - carry out. The views around are okay. If you are looking for a secluded place to get the all over tan this is it. Or if you are a bit shy of crows this is a good choice from my experience. :) See more..

This Tour is an excellent opportunity to get out and enjoy a fun boat trip to an uninhabitited Island. It was exciting just to be out on the sea and Captain Tom stopped and allowed us the time to enjoy watching eagles, sea lions, a flock of feeding seagulls and even sample sea kelp. We were the only ones on Discovery Island that day so what a delight it was to trek up the well marked trail to the old Lighthouse. It was such a fun day enjoying nature and I will encourage others to take advantage of this well organized tour. See more..

    - Waiatt did we not go here more often

Octopus Islands Marine Provincial Park image
The Octopus islands park can only be reached by boat and to really enjoy, you must anchor in the islands and then take advantage of the unique nature with a kayak or canoe or dinghy trip around. the scenery is spectacular and adjacent Waiatt bay is a large and very protected anchorage...so if the islands are already full when you get there, there is lots of parking space for your power cruiser or sailboat...take care of the surrounding waters as they require a good knowledge of tides and navigation.
