  7. 4.5 Whistler Olympic Plaza (496 reviews)
    - Whistler Village/Town Plaza/Olympic Center ... it's all the same (awesome) thing
Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Gardens • Playgrounds
    Whistler Olympic Plaza image
Our day trip via Epic bus from Vancouver deposited us within spitting distance of the Town Plaza, Olympic Plaza, etc. but, in all honesty, this is a pretty small piece of geography. Not wanting to split hairs, it is mere steps from one point to another and all the others. And so, here it is: Whistler Village's various named off-shoots are all parts of Whistler's Village. Enjoy the adventure, eat and shop and explore. The Town Plaza is the main area upon arrival. But do adventure out to visit walking destinations (like Lost Lake) and follow your nose. The Whistler Village is small enough that folks cannot get lost unless they really, really work at it. See more..

Friendship Gardens & Tipperary Park image
This is a tranquil, serene jewel in the midst of a busy neighbourhood, right behind New Westminster's City Hall. Hear birds sing, water burble, and children laughing. A meandering walk takes you down beside the little river, where you can cross a Chinese-type bridge at the bottom and walk back up on the other side. Or you can jump from stone to stone in the middle of the water feature. In springtime, smile at the glorious cherry blossoms. In summer, bathe in the greenery and watch the pond ducks do what ducks do. In autumn, walk through the gloriously coloured, crunchy leaves. In winter, feel the brisk stillness and watch the ice glow in the twilight. Whatever the season, it's a wonderful, rejuvenating break from the vicissitudes of life. See more..

  18. 4.5 Inspiration Garden (14 reviews)
    - A community garden should be applauded and supported
    Spent < 1 hour Gardens
    Inspiration Garden image
The Inspiration Garden has only been open around 6 years, just beside Lafarge Lake, located at the corner of Guildford Way and Pipeline Road. You know you are there when you see a big bumblebee made of flowers on a wire frame. After a few years of hard work by the volunteers and staff they turned this garden into a vibrant attractive place to visit. We like to stop by there once in awhile to see the beautiful flower display, the fruit trees and the vegetable. Sometimes we see groups of little kids there helping out and learn some gardening skills. They also have workshops for adults too. Recently we talked to a lady that volunteers there. She told us, all the beans, lettuce and cucumbers that grow there are for the food bank. This kind of community garden should be applauded and supported. Happy Travelling! See more..

    - Beautful gardens to take photos of dahlias
    Spent < 1 hour Gardens
    Ferncliff Gardens image
This garden is only open for a short time each year . Basically from mid August to the end of September . Anyone who loves flowers would enjoy this spot. The family who runs the farm are very friendly and will answer any questions you have . One year we wandered onto their private property and instead of chasing us off they told us the history of their business . They do sell bulbs also but the attraction for us is the row upon row of dahlias . There are so many varieties and they have developed quite a few varieties themselves . Almost every colour is represented . It's a great destination to test out your photography skills. Watch for bees as they are everywhere ! See more..
