This trip couldn't have been better. From the moment the shuttle collected us, to the moment they dropped us off again, the staff were friendly and keen to share their knowledge of the area and history surrounding it. Thanks to our eagle eyed guide, we were lucky enough to see a wild bear on a beach, before heading further out and finding a pod of very curious porpoises and a number of Humpback whales, including at least one with a calf. This trip exceeded our expectations and made for an incredibly enjoyable and memorable day. Over the years I’ve enjoyed fishing with guides all over the country and now that my daughter is old enough, 10 yrs, to also truly enjoy the experience as well, we have started taking trips together. After some research we booked with Brad at AKFFF and we were extremely glad we did. We spend a beautiful day floating down two different rivers chasing rainbows. It was a bit chilly first thing in the morning and Brad let my daughter use his wife’s gloves which she really appreciated. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with our mostly novice fly fishing group as we quickly improved enough to all fight nice rainbows in some of the most beautiful scenery in the country! If I’m ever fortunate enough to find myself in Alaska again I’ll be looking up Brad at Alaska Kenai Fishing for Fun for another great day on the water! This was a privately booked excursion taken while on a week long Alaskan cruise with my wife. Went out on 18 July with three fellow cruise ship passengers and one solo traveler. Had a great time fishing for halibut. I caught one, although not a giant, it made the whole outing totally worth it. Others caught fish as well. Saw some dolphins as a bonus. Captain Billy was AMAZING! He knew right where to take us to see whales. At one point, two whales swam right by the boat on the right side, while another whale was jumping on the left side! It was incredible. We spent all afternoon watching the wales play and feed together. Captain Billy also took us to see bears on the shoreline (watching from the boat). So fun! The boat was clean and had all the accommodations we needed. Captain Billy was able to answer all of our questions and told us stories about the history of the native tribe as well as the island and town. Over all, it was a 5 star experience. It was much more than just another great fishing trip. The variety of experiences, the natural beauty (lots of whales and bears!), getting to know the incredible Clark family were highlights. The Coho fishing was stellar in several different rivers. The Dolly Varden fishing was something to behold, at times a fish on virtually every cast. Plenty of Halibut for anyone who cares to fill their freezer! It was just a wonderful all around Alaska experience!See more..

We visited Icy Straight Point on our Celebrity Cruise at the end of July and were looking for something to do away from the cruise ship. This was a great option! Cody and his team were fantastic! We loved the beautiful scenery and all of the history of the Hoonah people we learned. The kayak and gear were all in great condition, but the staff of Fairweather Kayak Tours are what really made the experience incredible. Rafting the Copper River with Copper Oar rafting company was a great experience. Lots of fun and challenges. Juniper Rose was my guide and did a great job rowing us down the river, preparing great meals and pointing out interesting facts I wouldn’t have even known to ask about. I live and play in Alaska and I've seen and done many of the normal day trips. I had the opportunity to have Capt John and the Tundra bring us on a back country ski trip in Prince William Sound. I've toured around many of the south central ski areas, but this place is incredible. I can't say enough good things. Deepest snow contrasted by Sitka Spruce and tidal lagoons. Pillows, glaciers, you name it. To make it even better, we would come back to the Tundra, and Capt John would have large meals eating for us. All while situated alone in a remote bay with no one else in sigh. There was plenty of room to sleep and lounge. I will 100% do this trip again. the only thing I would change is booking a 4+ day trip instead of a 2 day trip.See more..

I’m 61 and have done a bunch of whitewater trips over the years, including the Grand Canyon, all the canyons of the Rio Grande in TX, New River in WV, West Canyon in Utah, the Oconee in TN and a bunch I can’t remember. Six Mile beats them all. It has big features, sweet canyons, and is very technical, not to mention completely gorgeous. Scott and the guys at Flow AK are beyond expert and professional — the best I’ve ever encountered. The dry suits we were provided were the best I have ever seen, and they definitely kept the cold and the water out. Our small group worked on safety and working together, then we had fun! My sister and I with our families recently did a Northern Lights trip with Steven during a vacation/bucket list trip to Fairbanks/North Pole. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip! We booked the multi-night option, and I'm so glad Steven recommended this. It was cloudy the first couple of nights, and Steven was great about contacting us each morning to let us know the forecast for the rest of our trip. On the third night, the forecast was clear, so we went for it. Steven picked us up at our Air BnB in a van that fit all 9 of us. We drove 30-45 mins outside of Fairbanks to a frozen lake that he was familiar with. As soon as we arrived, the skies lit up...it was unlike anything any of us had ever seen...remarkable! We loved that he is an expert photographer, and he got some fantastic shots of us. He also helped the one photographer in the group set up her camera and tripod to get the best shots. The rest of us used our iphones and actually got some decent pics too, although nowhere near the quality of what Steven did. We'd love to come back in the summertime for backcountry hiking with Steven, as he really knows the area quite well.See more..

We took the “Bucket List “ tour in June 2022. We’ve flown over and landed on other glaciers in recent years, but this trip over and onto the Matanuska glacier demonstrated just how unique this glacier is. The highlight was landing and disembarking along the edge of a small lake that exists atop the glacier on top of 400 feet of ice. This was one of the BEST days ever! I’ve traveled a lot and have seen a lot….I’ve lived in 5 beautiful states…..been deep sea fishing off the coast of Florida, fished the gold metal waters of Colorado, done a 3 day float fishing trip on the snake river in Utah…. BUT where our guide took us was absolutely breathtaking and an experience of a lifetime….a private spot with just me and my fiancé in the middle of a river with salmon running all around us….he captured awesome pictures and videos of us and we catch so many fish….a line gets tangled, or you lose a lure ..no problem he hands you another pole so you can keep on fishing…. Seriously this experience was worth thousands $$$ so the $600 we paid for 4 hrs of fishing in a remote spot surrounded by gorgeous mountains was priceless and worth every penny. Went on the 4th of July on the Klutina with Jake. Us being first timers, we were nervous. Jake gave us all the guidance we needed to succeed, and at the end of the day we felt like professionals. Took a tour to the Leconte Glacier near Petersburg, Alaska. What a great experience! We were able to get very close to the face of the glacier after cruising up the fjord through many icebergs. This could never be done on a large ship. Seek’s all metal boat holds about 12 passengers and offers fairly comfortable seating and spectacular outside viewing. The captain and his son are wonderful people and add to the experience with their humor. Great experience.See more..
